Švedski princ Daniel (49) rijetko govori o svojem privatnom životu u javnosti. Međutim, povodom Svjetskog dana bubrega, suprug princeze Victorije napravio je iznimku i ispričao događaj koji mu je promijenio život prije 14 godina: 2009. godine princu je presađen bubreg. Donator je bio njegov otac, Olle Westling.

Kad se princ Daniel susreo s istraživačima u Stockholmskoj palači  na Svjetski dan bubrega kako bi govorio o medicini bubrega, govorio je o postupku koji mu je promijenio život.

"Ne razmišljam o tome svaki dan, ali zahvalan sam i skroman i pokušavam se dokazati dostojnim onoga što sam dobio živeći zdravo", rekao je švedski princ za TV4. "Nije samorazumljivo da će organ funkcionirati do kraja mog života. Nadam se, ali uvijek postoji određena poniznost jer smijem biti zdrav."

Na pitanje novinara kada mu je bilo najgore uoči operacije, princ Daniel je rekao: "Imao sam sreće što sam imao živog donatora, pa sam to planirao. Onda je došlo kratko razdoblje kada sam primao dijalizu, nekoliko tjedana, jer bubrezi nisu radili. Osjećao sam se jako loše."

Nakon zahvata njegovo se stanje naglo poboljšalo. Od tada je švedski princ zagovara doniranje organa. "Još uvijek puno ljudi čeka organ", rekao je Daniel. "To znači puno stresa. Znaš da nećeš preživjeti ako ne dobiješ organ. Istodobno, znamo da je 85 posto Šveđana za doniranje organa. Dakle, to je malo frustrirajuće."

On sam osjeća odgovornost "širiti znanje, tražiti od ljudi da se registriraju". "Moja jednostavna filozofija je da ako ste spremni prihvatiti organ za sebe ili svoju djecu, odluku je lako prijaviti."

Švedski princ Daniel (49) rijetko govori o svojem privatnom životu u javnosti. Međutim, povodom Svjetskog dana bubrega, suprug princeze Victorije napravio je iznimku i ispričao događaj koji mu je promijenio život prije 14 godina: 2009. godine princu je presađen bubreg. Donator je bio njegov otac, Olle Westling.

"Ne razmišljam o tome svaki dan, ali zahvalan sam i skroman i pokušavam se dokazati dostojnim onoga što sam dobio živeći zdravo", rekao je švedski princ za TV4. "Nije samorazumljivo da će organ funkcionirati do kraja mog života. Nadam se, ali uvijek postoji određena poniznost jer smijem biti zdrav."

Na pitanje novinara kada mu je bilo najgore uoči operacije, princ Daniel je rekao: "Imao sam sreće što sam imao živog donatora, pa sam to planirao. Onda je došlo kratko razdoblje kada sam primao dijalizu, nekoliko tjedana, jer bubrezi nisu radili. Osjećao sam se jako loše."

Nakon zahvata njegovo se stanje naglo poboljšalo. Od tada je švedski princ zagovara doniranje organa. "Još uvijek puno ljudi čeka organ", rekao je Daniel. "To znači puno stresa. Znaš da nećeš preživjeti ako ne dobiješ organ. Istodobno, znamo da je 85 posto Šveđana za doniranje organa. Dakle, to je malo frustrirajuće."

On sam osjeća odgovornost "širiti znanje, tražiti od ljudi da se registriraju". "Moja jednostavna filozofija je da ako ste spremni prihvatiti organ za sebe ili svoju djecu, odluku je lako prijaviti."
