Kraj je prosinca, vrijeme je prehlada i gripe, srećom korona ne divlja kao prošle dvije godine. Sve se čini naoko razumljivim, ali znanstvenike je zaintrigiralo zašto smo zimi na na niskim temperaturama skloniji prehladama.

Ispostavilo se da hladan zrak oštećuje imunološki odgovor koji se javlja u nosu.

"Ovo je prvi put da imamo biološko, molekularno objašnjenje za čimbenik u našem urođenom imunološkom odgovoru za koji se čini da je ograničen nižim temperaturama", rekla je dr. Zara Patel, profesorica otorinolaringologije s Medicinskoga fakulteta u San Franciscu, izvještava CNN, prenosi Prva.rs.

Zapravo, snižavanje temperature u nosu za samo 9 stupnjeva ubija gotovo 50 posto milijardi stanica koje se bore protiv virusa i bakterija u nosnicama.

"Hladan zrak je povezan s povećanom virusnom infekcijom jer ste u biti izgubili pola svog imuniteta samo zbog tog malog pada temperature", rekao je dr. Benjamin Blair.

Kako bi shvatili zašto se to događa, Blair i njegov tim te koautor Mansour Amiji, koji predsjeda odjelom farmaceutskih znanosti na Sveučilištu Northeastern u Bostonu, krenuli su po znanstvene dokaze.

Respiratorni virus ili bakterija ulazi u nos, glavno mjesto ulaska u tijelo. Tim je utvrdio da prednji dio nosa odmah detektira klicu, puno prije nego što zadnji dio nosa postane svjestan uljeza. U tom trenutku stanice koje oblažu nos odmah počinju stvarati milijarde svojih jednostavnih kopija koje se nazivaju izvanstanične vezikule ili EV.

"EV se ne mogu dijeliti poput stanica, ali su poput mini verzija stanica posebno dizajniranih za ubijanje ovih virusa. EV se ponašaju kao mamci, tako da sada kada udahnete virus, on se zalijepi za te mamce umjesto da ostane zaglavljen u stanici", rekao je.

Te male verzije stanica zatim se otpuštaju u nosnu sluz, gdje prestaju napadati klice prije nego što stignu do odredišta i razmnože se.

"Ovo je možda jedini dio imunološkog sustava koji napušta vaše tijelo da se bori protiv bakterija i virusa prije nego oni stvarno uđu u vaše tijelo", rekao je Blair.

Jednom kada se stvore i rasprše u nosne sekrete, počinju se rojiti s lažnim klicama, piše Prva.rs.

Znantsvenici su dakle objasnili zašto smo na nižim temepraturama skloniji prehladama. A ako se protiv prehlade već ne bori naš imunološki sustav, moramo mi sami, preventivom, toplim odijevanjem i napicima.

Kraj je prosinca, vrijeme je prehlada i gripe, srećom korona ne divlja kao prošle dvije godine. Sve se čini naoko razumljivim, ali znanstvenike je zaintrigiralo zašto smo zimi na na niskim temperaturama skloniji prehladama.

Ispostavilo se da hladan zrak oštećuje imunološki odgovor koji se javlja u nosu.

"Ovo je prvi put da imamo biološko, molekularno objašnjenje za čimbenik u našem urođenom imunološkom odgovoru za koji se čini da je ograničen nižim temperaturama", rekla je dr. Zara Patel, profesorica otorinolaringologije s Medicinskoga fakulteta u San Franciscu, izvještava CNN, prenosi Prva.rs.

Zapravo, snižavanje temperature u nosu za samo 9 stupnjeva ubija gotovo 50 posto milijardi stanica koje se bore protiv virusa i bakterija u nosnicama.

"Hladan zrak je povezan s povećanom virusnom infekcijom jer ste u biti izgubili pola svog imuniteta samo zbog tog malog pada temperature", rekao je dr. Benjamin Blair.

Kako bi shvatili zašto se to događa, Blair i njegov tim te koautor Mansour Amiji, koji predsjeda odjelom farmaceutskih znanosti na Sveučilištu Northeastern u Bostonu, krenuli su po znanstvene dokaze.

Respiratorni virus ili bakterija ulazi u nos, glavno mjesto ulaska u tijelo. Tim je utvrdio da prednji dio nosa odmah detektira klicu, puno prije nego što zadnji dio nosa postane svjestan uljeza. U tom trenutku stanice koje oblažu nos odmah počinju stvarati milijarde svojih jednostavnih kopija koje se nazivaju izvanstanične vezikule ili EV.

"EV se ne mogu dijeliti poput stanica, ali su poput mini verzija stanica posebno dizajniranih za ubijanje ovih virusa. EV se ponašaju kao mamci, tako da sada kada udahnete virus, on se zalijepi za te mamce umjesto da ostane zaglavljen u stanici", rekao je.

Te male verzije stanica zatim se otpuštaju u nosnu sluz, gdje prestaju napadati klice prije nego što stignu do odredišta i razmnože se.

"Ovo je možda jedini dio imunološkog sustava koji napušta vaše tijelo da se bori protiv bakterija i virusa prije nego oni stvarno uđu u vaše tijelo", rekao je Blair.

Jednom kada se stvore i rasprše u nosne sekrete, počinju se rojiti s lažnim klicama, piše Prva.rs.

Znantsvenici su dakle objasnili zašto smo na nižim temepraturama skloniji prehladama. A ako se protiv prehlade već ne bori naš imunološki sustav, moramo mi sami, preventivom, toplim odijevanjem i napicima.
