Reumatoidni artritis je autoimuna bolest koja uzrokuje kroničnu upalu zglobova. Obično počinje polako s nekim manjim simptomima koji se pojavljuju i nestaju, uglavnom na obje strane tijela, a potom se razvijaju tijekom nekoliko tjedana ili mjeseci.
Simptomi reumatoidnog artritisa mogu varirati od osobe do osobe i mogu se mijenjati iz dana u dan. Velik broj simptoma odjednom je pogoršanje ili progresija bolesti, a faze u kojima su simptomi posve odsutni nazivaju se remisija, piše živim.hr.
Umor
Možete se osjećati neuobičajeno umorno dosta vremena prije nego što se pojavi bilo koji drugi simptom, ponekad tjednima ili mjesecima.
Umor se može javljati i nestajati iz dana u dan ili iz tjedna u tjedan, a ponekad je popraćen općim osjećajem da ste bolesni ili čak i depresijom.

Možete osjećati ukočenost i nakon bilo kojeg dužeg perioda neaktivnosti, primjerice nakon poslijepodnevnog drijemanja ili dužeg sjedenja tijekom putovanja.

Ukočenost u jednom ili više manjih zglobova je uobičajen rani znak reumatoidnog artritisa. Može se dogoditi u bilo koje doba dana, neovisno o tome jeste li aktivni ili ne.

Obično ukočenost počinje u zglobovima dlanova i tipično je da nastupa polako. No, može se pojaviti i iznenada i zahvatiti više zglobova tijekom jednog ili dva dana.
Bol u zglobovima
Nakon ukočenosti zglobova obično slijedi mekoća u zglobovima ili, pak, bol tijekom pokreta ili u mirovanju. To također zahvaća podjednako obje strane tijela.
Kod ranog reumatoidnog artritisa bol se najčešće javlja u prstima na rukama i u zapešćima, no možete osjetiti bol i u koljenima, stopalima, zglobovima nogu ili ramenima.
Oticanje malih zglobova
Blaga upala zglobova jedan je od tipičnih ranih znakova reumatoidnog artritisa i uzrokuje njihovo oticanje koje je obično praćeno toplinom u tom dijelu.
Upalna faza može trajati od nekoliko dana do nekoliko tjedana, a s vremenom se ti periodi mogu produžiti i postati sve češći. Sljedeće upale mogu se javiti opet u istim zglobovima ili u nekim drugim zglobovima.
Povišena tjelesna temperatura
Kad je praćena drugim simptomima, poput bolova u zglobovima i upale, blago povišena tjelesna temperatura može biti rani znak upozorenja da imate reumatoidni artritis.
