Nedostatak vitamina B12 Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (SZO) prepoznaje kao globalni zdravstveni problem koji utječe na milijune života. Tipični su simptomi ekstremni umor, nedostatak energije, mišićna slabost, pa i teškoće s pamćenjem, a ovo stanje može uzrokovati i ozbiljne zdravstvene probleme, kao što su nepovratna oštećenja živaca, tjeskobnost i depresiju ili poremećaje koji pogađaju koordiniranost, ravnotežu i govor, piše živim.hr.

B12 (kobalamin) je vitamin topiv u vodi, prirodno je prisutan u mesu, ribi i mliječnim proizvodima. Drugi izvori uključuju obogaćene žitarice, kruh i biljna mlijeka. Vegetarijanci i vegani u riziku su od manjka vitamina B12 pa, da bi to spriječili, preporuča im se uzeti barem tri mikrograma B12 na dan kroz obogaćenu hranu ili dodatke prehrani.

Nekada je nedostatak vitamina B12 posljedica neuravnotežene prehrane, no najčešći je razlog perniciozna anemija, autoimuni poremećaj koji može ostaviti ozbiljne posljedice ako se ne liječi. No, kako su njeni simptomi nespecifični često se pogrešno dijagnosticira kao depresija ili anksioznost.

Tiha epidemija

Manjak vitamina B12 može uzrokovati anemiju koja se može izliječiti uzimanjem nadomjestaka ili, u težim slučajevima, injekcijama.

Njegov blagi manjak ne izaziva nikakve simptome, no ako se ne liječi, problem može napredovati do faze kad se počinju javljati simptomi poput:

promjena raspoloženja, depresije, razdražljivosti;

otežane funkcije pamćenja, nesanice;

trnaca u udovima, bljedila kože, nedostatka zraka i ubrzanog kucanja srca;

zatvora, proljeva, gubitka apetita, mišićne slabosti, otežanog hodanja, oslabljenog vida ili ispadanja kose.

No, najčešći problem koji se često i najranije javlja i trebao bi biti zvono za uzbunu jest snažan osjećaj umora i iscrpljenosti, fizičke i psihičke. Bilo bi dobro znati da, iako je vitamin B12 prirodno prisutan u mnogim svakodnevnim namirnicama te u velikom broju obogaćenih namirnica, izuzetno mnogo ljudi i ne znajući pati od njegova manjka, piše živim.hr.

Istraživanje provedeno prije nekoliko godina na Sveučilištu Tufts u Bostonu pokazalo je da čak 40 posto ljudi od 28 do 83 godine ima smanjene vrijednosti tog vitamina u krvi, odnosno tako niske da već mogu izazvati neurološke probleme. Iznenađujuće je bilo to što je manjak bio u jednakoj mjeri prisutan i kod mlađe i kod starije populacije. Otprije se znalo da starije osobe imaju povećan rizik od manjka B12 zbog smanjene sposobnosti njegove apsorpcije.

Čak 40 posto osoba starijih od 60 godina ima manjak vitamina B12 pa znanstvenici pretpostavljaju da su slabije pamćenje i smanjena pokretnost zapravo samo nedostatak tog vitamina, a ne znakovi starenja.

Nedostatak vitamina B12 Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (SZO) prepoznaje kao globalni zdravstveni problem koji utječe na milijune života. Tipični su simptomi ekstremni umor, nedostatak energije, mišićna slabost, pa i teškoće s pamćenjem, a ovo stanje može uzrokovati i ozbiljne zdravstvene probleme, kao što su nepovratna oštećenja živaca, tjeskobnost i depresiju ili poremećaje koji pogađaju koordiniranost, ravnotežu i govor, piše živim.hr.

B12 (kobalamin) je vitamin topiv u vodi, prirodno je prisutan u mesu, ribi i mliječnim proizvodima. Drugi izvori uključuju obogaćene žitarice, kruh i biljna mlijeka. Vegetarijanci i vegani u riziku su od manjka vitamina B12 pa, da bi to spriječili, preporuča im se uzeti barem tri mikrograma B12 na dan kroz obogaćenu hranu ili dodatke prehrani.

Nekada je nedostatak vitamina B12 posljedica neuravnotežene prehrane, no najčešći je razlog perniciozna anemija, autoimuni poremećaj koji može ostaviti ozbiljne posljedice ako se ne liječi. No, kako su njeni simptomi nespecifični često se pogrešno dijagnosticira kao depresija ili anksioznost.

Tiha epidemija

Manjak vitamina B12 može uzrokovati anemiju koja se može izliječiti uzimanjem nadomjestaka ili, u težim slučajevima, injekcijama.

Njegov blagi manjak ne izaziva nikakve simptome, no ako se ne liječi, problem može napredovati do faze kad se počinju javljati simptomi poput:

promjena raspoloženja, depresije, razdražljivosti;

otežane funkcije pamćenja, nesanice;

trnaca u udovima, bljedila kože, nedostatka zraka i ubrzanog kucanja srca;

zatvora, proljeva, gubitka apetita, mišićne slabosti, otežanog hodanja, oslabljenog vida ili ispadanja kose.

No, najčešći problem koji se često i najranije javlja i trebao bi biti zvono za uzbunu jest snažan osjećaj umora i iscrpljenosti, fizičke i psihičke. Bilo bi dobro znati da, iako je vitamin B12 prirodno prisutan u mnogim svakodnevnim namirnicama te u velikom broju obogaćenih namirnica, izuzetno mnogo ljudi i ne znajući pati od njegova manjka, piše živim.hr.

Istraživanje provedeno prije nekoliko godina na Sveučilištu Tufts u Bostonu pokazalo je da čak 40 posto ljudi od 28 do 83 godine ima smanjene vrijednosti tog vitamina u krvi, odnosno tako niske da već mogu izazvati neurološke probleme. Iznenađujuće je bilo to što je manjak bio u jednakoj mjeri prisutan i kod mlađe i kod starije populacije. Otprije se znalo da starije osobe imaju povećan rizik od manjka B12 zbog smanjene sposobnosti njegove apsorpcije.

Čak 40 posto osoba starijih od 60 godina ima manjak vitamina B12 pa znanstvenici pretpostavljaju da su slabije pamćenje i smanjena pokretnost zapravo samo nedostatak tog vitamina, a ne znakovi starenja.

Nedostatak vitamina B12 Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (SZO) prepoznaje kao globalni zdravstveni problem koji utječe na milijune života. Tipični su simptomi ekstremni umor, nedostatak energije, mišićna slabost, pa i teškoće s pamćenjem, a ovo stanje može uzrokovati i ozbiljne zdravstvene probleme, kao što su nepovratna oštećenja živaca, tjeskobnost i depresiju ili poremećaje koji pogađaju koordiniranost, ravnotežu i govor, piše živim.hr.

B12 (kobalamin) je vitamin topiv u vodi, prirodno je prisutan u mesu, ribi i mliječnim proizvodima. Drugi izvori uključuju obogaćene žitarice, kruh i biljna mlijeka. Vegetarijanci i vegani u riziku su od manjka vitamina B12 pa, da bi to spriječili, preporuča im se uzeti barem tri mikrograma B12 na dan kroz obogaćenu hranu ili dodatke...
