U HNK Split će 4. travnja biti premijerno izvedena drama Tennesseeja Williamsa "Mačka na vrućem limenom krovu", a režira je mladi srpski redatelj Jug Đorđević.

Ova drama u tri čina napisana je 1955. godine, osvojila je Pulitzerovu nagradu i samom autoru bila je jedna od najdražih. Iste godine kada je nastala, odigrana je na Broadwayu, a tri godine kasnije uslijedila je i prva filmska adaptacija.

Od toga vremena do danas doživjela je diljem svijeta nebrojene kazališne izvedbe i nekoliko je puta oživjela na filmskom platnu.

"Mačka" problematizira mnoge složene teme: za vrijeme jednog rođendanskog okupljanja u kući bogatog - i nasmrt bolesnog - obiteljskog patrijarha u dolini Mississippija pokazat će se da svi u toj obitelji lažu jedni drugima. U prvom redu laže se o starčevoj dijagnozi.

Na površinu će isplivati i pohlepa, odnosno pitanje koji će od dvojice odraslih sinova naslijediti obiteljsko imanje. Jedan sin dovodi na zabavu suprugu i hrpu djece, a drugi je alkoholičar i sa svojom ženom Maggie, "mačkom", dugo nema odnose - pa ni potomke. Među njima se podigla brana zbog pokojnog prijatelja koji je očito igrao veliku ulogu u životu mladog para - mužu je bio prijatelj, ali je bio u njega i zaljubljen.

Ovakva tema nije bila prikladna za film iz 1958. godine u režiji Richarda Brooksa kada je "Mačka na vrućem limenom krovu" prvi put osvanula na velikom platnu, a uloge Bricka i Maggie tumačili su Paul Newman i Elizabeth Taylor. Trebalo je pričekati čak do osamdesetih da se na filmu prikaže izvorna piščeva ideja.

Pa ipak, film iz 1958. bio je odlično prihvaćen od kritike i publike, nominiran je za nekoliko Oscara, bio je tada MGM-ovo najuspješnije izdanje i postao treći film s najvećom zaradom te godine - samo, Tennessee Williams nije bio zadovoljan.

Razlog zamagljivanja nekih "škakljivih" dijelova radnje valja potražiti u tzv. Haysovom kodeksu, skupu smjernica koji se primjenjivao na većinu filmova koje su izdali veliki studiji u Sjedinjenim Državama sve do 1968. godine.

Taj kodeks, svojevrsna autocenzura, sadržavao je popis od jedanaest tema koje je najbolje izbjegavati i dvadeset šest s kojima treba postupati vrlo pažljivo.

Između ostalog, zabranjena je bila oštra vulgarnost koja vrijeđa vjerske osjećaje, prikazi razvrata, spolne perverzije, ljubav između dviju rasa, prizori porođaja i ismijavanje klera. A nije bilo preporučljivo dugo i požudno ljubljenje, scene muškarca i žene u istom krevetu, konzumacija droge, kirurške operacije ni prikazi simpatičnih kriminalaca.

Naravno, redatelji su znali po potrebi doskočiti ovim pravilima. Pravilo da poljubac ne smije trajati više od tri sekunde Alfred Hitchcock je zaobišao tako da je nakon tri sekunde poljubac prekidao - a potom su se glumci nanovo ljubili.

Homoseksualni odnosi išli su tada u kategoriju "spolnih perverzija" i stoga je trebalo zamagliti odnos Bricka i njegova prijatelja.

Tako je bilo čak i u kazalištu. Tek sedamdesetih teatar se vraća izvornim Williamsovim rečenicama, a potom i film.

Unatoč tome, prva filmska varijanta bila je silno popularna, između ostalog i zbog sjajnih glumaca. U ovom djelu nema malih i nevažnih uloga - spomenimo samo filmsku Big Mamu Judith Anderson, tada jednu od najboljih šekspirijanskih glumica na svijetu.

U opciji za ulogu Maggie, prije Elizabeth Taylor, bile su Grace Kelly i Lana Turner. Taylor, impresivna u svojim kombineima i koktel-haljinama snimala je u teškom psihičkom stanju jer joj je suprug Mike Tood toga mjeseca poginuo u avionskoj nesreći.

Paul Newman, kojeg je publika obožavala a kritika silno hvalila, također nije bio zadovoljan razvodnjavanjem teksta, dok je sam pisac Williams, videći red pred kinom rekao:

- Ovo će unazaditi filmsku industriju za 50 godina. Idite kući!

Međutim, film koji je danas klasik postigao je silan uspjeh i većina scena drži se antologijskim.

U HNK Split će 4. travnja biti premijerno izvedena drama Tennesseeja Williamsa "Mačka na vrućem limenom krovu", a režira je mladi srpski redatelj Jug Đorđević.

Ova drama u tri čina napisana je 1955. godine, osvojila je Pulitzerovu nagradu i samom autoru bila je jedna od najdražih. Iste godine kada je nastala, odigrana je na Broadwayu, a tri godine kasnije uslijedila je i prva filmska adaptacija.

Od toga vremena do danas doživjela je diljem svijeta nebrojene kazališne izvedbe i nekoliko je puta oživjela na filmskom platnu.

"Mačka" problematizira mnoge složene teme: za vrijeme jednog rođendanskog okupljanja u kući bogatog - i nasmrt bolesnog - obiteljskog patrijarha u dolini Mississippija pokazat će se da svi u toj obitelji lažu jedni drugima. U prvom redu laže se o starčevoj dijagnozi.

Na površinu će isplivati i pohlepa, odnosno pitanje koji će od dvojice odraslih sinova naslijediti obiteljsko imanje. Jedan sin dovodi na zabavu suprugu i hrpu djece, a drugi je alkoholičar i sa svojom ženom Maggie, "mačkom", dugo nema odnose - pa ni potomke. Među njima se podigla brana zbog pokojnog prijatelja koji je očito igrao veliku ulogu u životu mladog para - mužu je bio prijatelj, ali je bio u njega i zaljubljen.

Ovakva tema nije bila prikladna za film iz 1958. godine u režiji Richarda Brooksa kada je "Mačka na vrućem limenom krovu" prvi put osvanula na velikom platnu, a uloge Bricka i Maggie tumačili su Paul Newman i Elizabeth Taylor. Trebalo je pričekati čak do osamdesetih da se na filmu prikaže izvorna piščeva ideja.

Pa ipak, film iz 1958. bio je odlično prihvaćen od kritike i publike, nominiran je za nekoliko Oscara, bio je tada MGM-ovo najuspješnije izdanje i postao treći film s najvećom zaradom te godine - samo, Tennessee Williams nije bio zadovoljan.

Razlog zamagljivanja nekih "škakljivih" dijelova radnje valja potražiti u tzv. Haysovom kodeksu, skupu smjernica koji se primjenjivao na većinu filmova koje su izdali veliki studiji u Sjedinjenim Državama sve do 1968. godine.

Taj kodeks, svojevrsna autocenzura, sadržavao je popis od jedanaest tema koje je najbolje izbjegavati i dvadeset šest s kojima treba postupati vrlo pažljivo.

Između ostalog, zabranjena je bila oštra vulgarnost koja vrijeđa vjerske osjećaje, prikazi razvrata, spolne perverzije, ljubav između dviju rasa, prizori porođaja i ismijavanje klera. A nije bilo preporučljivo dugo i požudno ljubljenje, scene muškarca i žene u istom krevetu, konzumacija droge, kirurške operacije ni prikazi simpatičnih kriminalaca.

Naravno, redatelji su znali po potrebi doskočiti ovim pravilima. Pravilo da poljubac ne smije trajati više od tri sekunde Alfred Hitchcock je zaobišao tako da je nakon tri sekunde poljubac prekidao - a potom su se glumci nanovo ljubili.

Homoseksualni odnosi išli su tada u kategoriju "spolnih perverzija" i stoga je trebalo zamagliti odnos Bricka i njegova prijatelja.

Tako je bilo čak i u kazalištu. Tek sedamdesetih teatar se vraća izvornim Williamsovim rečenicama, a potom i film.

Unatoč tome, prva filmska varijanta bila je silno popularna, između ostalog i zbog sjajnih glumaca. U ovom djelu nema malih i nevažnih uloga - spomenimo samo filmsku Big Mamu Judith Anderson, tada jednu od najboljih šekspirijanskih glumica na svijetu.

U opciji za ulogu Maggie, prije Elizabeth Taylor, bile su Grace Kelly i Lana Turner. Taylor, impresivna u svojim kombineima i koktel-haljinama snimala je u teškom psihičkom stanju jer joj je suprug Mike Tood toga mjeseca poginuo u avionskoj nesreći.

Paul Newman, kojeg je publika obožavala a kritika silno hvalila, također nije bio zadovoljan razvodnjavanjem teksta, dok je sam pisac Williams, videći red pred kinom rekao:

- Ovo će unazaditi filmsku industriju za 50 godina. Idite kući!

Međutim, film koji je danas klasik postigao je silan uspjeh i većina scena drži se antologijskim.
