Working Title Films je jedan od sinonima za dobru britansku romantičnu komediju. “Četiri vjenčanja i sprovod”, “Ja u ljubav vjerujem”, “Dnevnik Bridget Jones, “Zapravo ljubav”, “Dajem im godinu”, “Pravi trenutak”, “Yesterday”, “Emma”... Popisu se može pridodati i razoružavajući multi-kulti rom-com “Što ljubav ima s tim?” (“What’s Love Got to Do with It?”), najugodnije žanrovsko iznenađenje u posljednje vrijeme.

Naslov filma nije pretjerano kreativan i sugerirao je generičnu romantičnu komediju. “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” je hit-pjesma Tine Turner prema kojoj je već naslovljen biografski film o slavnoj pjevačici iz 1993. godine. No, “Što ljubav ima s tim?” je daleko od generičnog rom-coma, iznimno šarmantan i promišljen.

Priča je osvježavajuća unatoč pojedinim žanrovskim neizbježnostima, pogođena kombinacija egzotičnosti “Monsunskog vjenčanja” i klasičnosti “Kad je Harry sreo Sally” na britanski Working Title način, uz dodatak dobrodošle autoironične samosvjesnosti spram žanra i društva općenito.

Mlada dokumentaristica Zoe (neodoljiva Lily James; “Pepeljuga”, “Mamma Mia 2”, glumila i u “Yesterday”) producentima predlaže novu ideju za dokumentarac kad joj saopće da ne žele njezine mračne, crnjačke priče, već traže nešto “veselije”.

Ideja je da Zoe ovjekovječi kamerom putovanje njezina prijatelja iz djetinjstva Kaza (Shazad Latif, “Hotel Marigold 2”, “Profil”) iz Velike Britanije/Londona u Pakistan/Lahorea da stupi u dogovoreni ili “potpomoguti” brak s neznankom koju su mu pronašli roditelji preko bračnog posrednika.

Naravno, diverzitet je danas bitan (Pakistanci), baš kao i oslanjanje na prokušane filmske koncepte. “Kad je Harry prisilno sreo Sally”, smjesta bubne jedan, drugi se nadoveže s “My Big Fat Arranged Marriage”, a Zoe dodavanje rom-com naslovima zaključi s “Love Contractually”.

Šalu na stranu, film pokušava reći nešto o tradicionalnim, konzervativnim (dogovorenim) brakovima u modernom, slobodnom multikulturnom svijetu i ljubavi općenito, na prvi Skype ili prvi, drugi i treći pogled. Mora li uvijek postojati kemija, iskra, klik? Zaljubljujemo li se u nečiju vanjštinu ili nutrinu?

Razlikuje li se Kazov slučaj, “Tinder po mjeri roditelja”, od pronalaska partnera na moderan način preko aplikacija, posebice jer će on prvi kontakt s budućom suprugom Maymounom (Sajal Ali) ostvariti preko Skypea? Što je namještanje novog dečka za Zoe od strane njezine majke Cath (Emma Thompson) nego nešto slično dogovorenu braku?

Jesu li partneri svejedno neznanci ako jedno od drugog skriva tajne poput dugotrajnog preljuba? Upravo je to Zoe iskusila friško na primjeru prijateljice, a i sama je prošla svašta pa njezinim klinkama priča priče za laku noć na temelju vlastitog “dating” iskustva, unoseći gorki realizam u “happily ever after” postavku bajke, jednako kako indijski redatelj Shekhar Kapur unosi mrvu dokumentarizma u žanr romantične komedije, uspijevajući pospojiti životno i filmično.

Kapur je za Working Title prethodno režirao povijesne drame “Elizabeta” i “Elizabeta: Zlatno doba”, što se osjeti u vizualnosti filma, znatno grandioznijoj od prosječnog rom-coma, ali i autentičnosti emocija likova. Emocije se osjećaju bez izgovorene riječi, davno prije natipkane i brže-bolje izbrisane poruke “nemoj se oženiti sutra”. Ljubav ima nešto s tim.

Working Title Films je jedan od sinonima za dobru britansku romantičnu komediju. “Četiri vjenčanja i sprovod”, “Ja u ljubav vjerujem”, “Dnevnik Bridget Jones, “Zapravo ljubav”, “Dajem im godinu”, “Pravi trenutak”, “Yesterday”, “Emma”... Popisu se može pridodati i razoružavajući multi-kulti rom-com “Što ljubav ima s tim?” (“What’s Love Got to Do with It?”), najugodnije žanrovsko iznenađenje u posljednje vrijeme.

Naslov filma nije pretjerano kreativan i sugerirao je generičnu romantičnu komediju. “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” je hit-pjesma Tine Turner prema kojoj je već naslovljen biografski film o slavnoj pjevačici iz 1993. godine. No, “Što ljubav ima s tim?” je daleko od generičnog rom-coma, iznimno šarmantan i promišljen.

Priča je osvježavajuća unatoč pojedinim žanrovskim neizbježnostima, pogođena kombinacija egzotičnosti “Monsunskog vjenčanja” i klasičnosti “Kad je Harry sreo Sally” na britanski Working Title način, uz dodatak dobrodošle autoironične samosvjesnosti spram žanra i društva općenito.

Mlada dokumentaristica Zoe (neodoljiva Lily James; “Pepeljuga”, “Mamma Mia 2”, glumila i u “Yesterday”) producentima predlaže novu ideju za dokumentarac kad joj saopće da ne žele njezine mračne, crnjačke priče, već traže nešto “veselije”.

Ideja je da Zoe ovjekovječi kamerom putovanje njezina prijatelja iz djetinjstva Kaza (Shazad Latif, “Hotel Marigold 2”, “Profil”) iz Velike Britanije/Londona u Pakistan/Lahorea da stupi u dogovoreni ili “potpomoguti” brak s neznankom koju su mu pronašli roditelji preko bračnog posrednika.

Naravno, diverzitet je danas bitan (Pakistanci), baš kao i oslanjanje na prokušane filmske koncepte. “Kad je Harry prisilno sreo Sally”, smjesta bubne jedan, drugi se nadoveže s “My Big Fat Arranged Marriage”, a Zoe dodavanje rom-com naslovima zaključi s “Love Contractually”.

Šalu na stranu, film pokušava reći nešto o tradicionalnim, konzervativnim (dogovorenim) brakovima u modernom, slobodnom multikulturnom svijetu i ljubavi općenito, na prvi Skype ili prvi, drugi i treći pogled. Mora li uvijek postojati kemija, iskra, klik? Zaljubljujemo li se u nečiju vanjštinu ili nutrinu?

Razlikuje li se Kazov slučaj, “Tinder po mjeri roditelja”, od pronalaska partnera na moderan način preko aplikacija, posebice jer će on prvi kontakt s budućom suprugom Maymounom (Sajal Ali) ostvariti preko Skypea? Što je namještanje novog dečka za Zoe od strane njezine majke Cath (Emma Thompson) nego nešto slično dogovorenu braku?

Jesu li partneri svejedno neznanci ako jedno od drugog skriva tajne poput dugotrajnog preljuba? Upravo je to Zoe iskusila friško na primjeru prijateljice, a i sama je prošla svašta pa njezinim klinkama priča priče za laku noć na temelju vlastitog “dating” iskustva, unoseći gorki realizam u “happily ever after” postavku bajke, jednako kako indijski redatelj Shekhar Kapur unosi mrvu dokumentarizma u žanr romantične komedije, uspijevajući pospojiti životno i filmično.

Kapur je za Working Title prethodno režirao povijesne drame “Elizabeta” i “Elizabeta: Zlatno doba”, što se osjeti u vizualnosti filma, znatno grandioznijoj od prosječnog rom-coma, ali i autentičnosti emocija likova. Emocije se osjećaju bez izgovorene riječi, davno prije natipkane i brže-bolje izbrisane poruke “nemoj se oženiti sutra”. Ljubav ima nešto s tim.
