"Moj sin je nestao!" – "Otet" (2021.)

Improvizacija se očekuje od glumca u pojedinim scenama filma, tipa da sam na licu mjesta nadoda neku rečenicu dijaloga. No, što ako mora improvizirati cijelu ulogu? Pitanje je to s kojim se suočio talentirani James McAvoy u trileru "Otet" ("My Son"), remakeu francuskog filma "Mon Garcon" iz 2017. godine kojeg potpisuje isti koscenarist i redatelj Christian Carion.

Kao i njegov prethodnik Guillaume Canet, McAvoy nije dobio scenarij niti znao kako priča završava, za razliku od drugih glumaca. Samo je bio upoznat s osnovnom premisom i bazičnom karakterizacijom lika, ali ne i njegovim, kamoli tuđim dijalozima.

U najkraćim crticama se radi o nestanku sedmogodišnjeg Ethana (Max Wilson), sina Edmuna Murrayja (McAvoy), biznismena zaposlenog u naftnoj industriji. Edmund je razveden od dječakove majke Joan (Claire Foy; u izvornom filmu Melanie Laurent), a zbog prirode posla je često na međunarodnim putovanjima koja uključuju i posjete Iraku.

Primivši paničan poziv od Joan, Edmond se vraća u škotski gradić i pokušava otkriti što se dogodilo, tj. kako je Ethan nestao iz kampa, a štos je, dakle, da lik riješava misteriju istovremeno s publikom, odnosno da McAvoy nema pojma što će se dogoditi kao ni gledatelj, ne računajući da je nama u Hrvatskoj samim naslovom natuknuto da je malac otet, ali ne i kako/zašto/od koga.

Je li netko možda donio odluku da odvede Ethana, a ne neko drugo dijete zbog prirode Edmondova posla, kako se pita inspektor Roy (Gary Lewis) koji "istražuje sve hipoteze uključujući otmicu"? Je li sumnjiv Joanin partner Frank (Tom Cullen) kad gasi zvuk na mobitelu i pokazuje Edmondu nacrte za novu kuću koji ne uključuju sobu za Ethana?

Protagonistu se crtaju upitnici iznad glave kao i gledatelju. Lik i glumac reagiraju spontano riječima i gestama na saznanja/zbivanja i tuđe reakcije od jedne scene do druge. To je nesvakidašnji, eksperimentalni pa i revolucionarni koncept koji osvježava još jednu priču o otmici djeteta, od akcijskih filmova "Komandos" i "96 sati" sa Schwarzeneggerom i Liamom Neesonom do trilera "Poziv" s Halle Berry.

Otprilike kao da Schwarzenegger i Neeson nisu mogli pročitati scenarij dok su snimali "Commando" i "Taken", nego se svaka njihova akcija morala rimovati s riječi improvizacija. Međutim, "Otet" nije akcijski film kao "96 sati" (kamoli "Komandos") budući da McAvoy ne barata "setom posebnih vještina" kao Neeson, već je njegov lik običan čovjek, nipošto bivši specijalac.

Tako postavljen lik i film u startu izazivaju veću tenziju kod gledatelja, a posebice s ovakvim konceptom da glumac ne zna što će se iduće dogoditi i reagira spontano, čak i instinktivno dok su njegove (re)akcije produkt (re)akcija drugih, uključujući i bivšu suprugu koju Foy ("Prvi čovjek") igra uobičajeno uvjerljivo i dugo će nam u glavi odzvanjati njezin drhtav glas stresa.

"My Son" se akciji, premda ne "takenovskoj", približava pred sami kraj, kad film počinje vrludati u proizvoljnostima i naglo preuzimati neka "deux ex machina" rješenja, prijeteći da ruinira gotovo sve prethodno postignuto. Dotad se isključivo temelji na agoničnoj drami oca koju povlači nestanak djeteta, upakiranoj u gradirajuće napeti triler za gristi nokte.

Znači, najprije emocija pa onda akcija. Emocija je opipljiva i McAvoy podsjeća na Seana Penna iz "Mistične rijeke" ("Je li mi kći unutra?!") kad uzvikne "Moj sin je nestao!". McAvoy izvlači maksimum iz lika i daje mu karakterizaciju u hodu: Edmond je loš otac kojeg nikad nema i nije sinu oslonac. Zato potragu za njim shvaća kao iskupljenje i zato se emotivno lomi (plač, smijeh, plač) kad gleda rođendanski video djeteta. Uloga je za McAvoya veliki izazov, a on izazove voli ("Podvojen").

Odnos otac-sin i bivši muž-bivša žena prilično je čvrsto izgrađen s obzirom na šturost inicijalne karakterizacije glavnog lika, a u izgradnji pomažu i ugođajno impresivni kadrovi opustjele, izolirane pa i prijeteće škotske prirode, u skladu s otuđenosti Edmonda od supruge i sina, ali i u kontrastu s nevinosti djeteta. Krajolik daje na sirovosti, realističnosti filma koji u konceptu koketira i s videoigrom, no to srećom ne postaje čak ni kad mu ponestane akcijske improvizacije.

James McAvoy se, zanimljivo, dvaput okušao u akcijskim ulogama, u filmovima "Tražen" i "Dobrodošli u zamku", a glumio je i u "Atomskoj plavuši".

"Moj sin je nestao!" – "Otet" (2021.)

Improvizacija se očekuje od glumca u pojedinim scenama filma, tipa da sam na licu mjesta nadoda neku rečenicu dijaloga. No, što ako mora improvizirati cijelu ulogu? Pitanje je to s kojim se suočio talentirani James McAvoy u trileru "Otet" ("My Son"), remakeu francuskog filma "Mon Garcon" iz 2017. godine kojeg potpisuje isti koscenarist i redatelj Christian Carion.

Kao i njegov prethodnik Guillaume Canet, McAvoy nije dobio scenarij niti znao kako priča završava, za razliku od drugih glumaca. Samo je bio upoznat s osnovnom premisom i bazičnom karakterizacijom lika, ali ne i njegovim, kamoli tuđim dijalozima.

U najkraćim crticama se radi o nestanku sedmogodišnjeg Ethana (Max Wilson), sina Edmuna Murrayja (McAvoy), biznismena zaposlenog u naftnoj industriji. Edmund je razveden od dječakove majke Joan (Claire Foy; u izvornom filmu Melanie Laurent), a zbog prirode posla je često na međunarodnim putovanjima koja uključuju i posjete Iraku.

Primivši paničan poziv od Joan, Edmond se vraća u škotski gradić i pokušava otkriti što se dogodilo, tj. kako je Ethan nestao iz kampa, a štos je, dakle, da lik riješava misteriju istovremeno s publikom, odnosno da McAvoy nema pojma što će se dogoditi kao ni gledatelj, ne računajući da je nama u Hrvatskoj samim naslovom natuknuto da je malac otet, ali ne i kako/zašto/od koga.

Je li netko možda donio odluku da odvede Ethana, a ne neko drugo dijete zbog prirode Edmondova posla, kako se pita inspektor Roy (Gary Lewis) koji "istražuje sve hipoteze uključujući otmicu"? Je li sumnjiv Joanin partner Frank (Tom Cullen) kad gasi zvuk na mobitelu i pokazuje Edmondu nacrte za novu kuću koji ne uključuju sobu za Ethana?

Protagonistu se crtaju upitnici iznad glave kao i gledatelju. Lik i glumac reagiraju spontano riječima i gestama na saznanja/zbivanja i tuđe reakcije od jedne scene do druge. To je nesvakidašnji, eksperimentalni pa i revolucionarni koncept koji osvježava još jednu priču o otmici djeteta, od akcijskih filmova "Komandos" i "96 sati" sa Schwarzeneggerom i Liamom Neesonom do trilera "Poziv" s Halle Berry.

Otprilike kao da Schwarzenegger i Neeson nisu mogli pročitati scenarij dok su snimali "Commando" i "Taken", nego se svaka njihova akcija morala rimovati s riječi improvizacija. Međutim, "Otet" nije akcijski film kao "96 sati" (kamoli "Komandos") budući da McAvoy ne barata "setom posebnih vještina" kao Neeson, već je njegov lik običan čovjek, nipošto bivši specijalac.

Tako postavljen lik i film u startu izazivaju veću tenziju kod gledatelja, a posebice s ovakvim konceptom da glumac ne zna što će se iduće dogoditi i reagira spontano, čak i instinktivno dok su njegove (re)akcije produkt (re)akcija drugih, uključujući i bivšu suprugu koju Foy ("Prvi čovjek") igra uobičajeno uvjerljivo i dugo će nam u glavi odzvanjati njezin drhtav glas stresa.

"My Son" se akciji, premda ne "takenovskoj", približava pred sami kraj, kad film počinje vrludati u proizvoljnostima i naglo preuzimati neka "deux ex machina" rješenja, prijeteći da ruinira gotovo sve prethodno postignuto. Dotad se isključivo temelji na agoničnoj drami oca koju povlači nestanak djeteta, upakiranoj u gradirajuće napeti triler za gristi nokte.

Znači, najprije emocija pa onda akcija. Emocija je opipljiva i McAvoy podsjeća na Seana Penna iz "Mistične rijeke" ("Je li mi kći unutra?!") kad uzvikne "Moj sin je nestao!". McAvoy izvlači maksimum iz lika i daje mu karakterizaciju u hodu: Edmond je loš otac kojeg nikad nema i nije sinu oslonac. Zato potragu za njim shvaća kao iskupljenje i zato se emotivno lomi (plač, smijeh, plač) kad gleda rođendanski video djeteta. Uloga je za McAvoya veliki izazov, a on izazove voli ("Podvojen").

Odnos otac-sin i bivši muž-bivša žena prilično je čvrsto izgrađen s obzirom na šturost inicijalne karakterizacije glavnog lika, a u izgradnji pomažu i ugođajno impresivni kadrovi opustjele, izolirane pa i prijeteće škotske prirode, u skladu s otuđenosti Edmonda od supruge i sina, ali i u kontrastu s nevinosti djeteta. Krajolik daje na sirovosti, realističnosti filma koji u konceptu koketira i s videoigrom, no to srećom ne postaje čak ni kad mu ponestane akcijske improvizacije.

James McAvoy se, zanimljivo, dvaput okušao u akcijskim ulogama, u filmovima "Tražen" i "Dobrodošli u zamku", a glumio je i u "Atomskoj plavuši".
