"Posvuda smo", podsjeća uvodna naracija vampirice u novom Netflixovu filmu "Noćni zubi" ("Night Teeth"). Vampiri su doista posvuda. Od "Drakule", "Blizu tame" i "Izgubljenih dječaka", do "From Dusk Till Dawn" i "Sumraka", oni su vječno popularni hororski negativci.

Zato je i Netlix odlučio kapitalizirati na njihovim očnjacima. "Noćni zubi" su već drugi Netflixov vampirski film u svega par mjeseci nakon "Krvavog neba", prigodno tempiran pred Noć vještica za ljubitelje krvopijaca. Za jedno neobvezatno Halloween konzumiranje "Night Teeth" nije loš izbor kome je do nečeg novijeg vampirskog, još nepogledanog, jer film je lako gledljiv, premda prilično dalekog od dobrog.

Ipak, osnovna premisa je dobra. Kad naracija uspostavi priču o vampirskom i nevampirskom teritoriju, tj. ratu i primirju između dviju vrsta, jasno je da "Noćni zubi" dio mitologije duguju serijalu "Underworld", samo što su ovdje na suprotnim stranama vampiri i ljudi, a ne vukodlaci.

No, scenarist Brent Dillon i redatelj Adam Randall pokušavaju osvježiti žanr tako da ubace krvopijce u filmove "Collateral" i "Idiotska noć". U centru priče je Benny (Jorge Lendeborg Jr.), student koji živi s bakom, stremi glazbenoj karijeri i nema sreće u ljubavi.

Benny će doživjeti "idiotsku noć" kad jedne večeri zamijeni brata Jaya (Rauf Castillo) u ulozi vozača i angažiraju ga djevojke Blaire i Zoe (Debbie Ryan, Lucy Fry) da ih vozi po Los Angelesu od mraka do zore. Slatkica Blaire i sadistica Zoe nisu obične djevojke, nego vampirice, a Benny ih vozi od jedne zabave do druge da piju krv, ne alkohol.

"Ovdje se nešto čudno događa", postupno shvaća Benny koji će u jednoj sceni dovesti cure do nekog hotela nalik "Continentalu" iz "Johna Wicka", gdje se može ući uz posebne novčiće itd. Da se Randall ugledao na "Johna Wicka" potvrđuje i angažman Alfieja Allena u navlaš istoj ulozi mladog "wannabe" šefa podzemlja, sada vampirskog.

Allenov lik, Victor, krši mir između vrsta i pokreće rat u središtu kojeg će se ni kriv ni dužan naći Benny, uvučen do guše u mračni svijet vampira koji bi rado zarili očnjake u njegov vrat. Zvuči potentno, zar ne? Međutim, potencijal baš i nije ostvaren, koliko god da režisera treba držati na oku zahvaljujući njegovom neonskom vizualnom stilu koji i eksterijere Los Angelesa umije načiniti da djeluju kao interijeri kluba te kreativnim pokretima kamere u paru s neobičnim rakursima.

Film zgodno izgleda, fino je snimljen i osvijetljen, ali nudi minimalna uzbuđenja s obzirom na načelno uzbudljiv koncept i veoma je skroman u pogledu vampirskog horora, akcije i crno-crvenog humora, najbolje sjedinjenih u sceni kad Benny promatra kako Blaire i Zoe sređuju vampire u drugom planu kadra.

Ukratko, "Night Teeth" nije zabavan koliko je mogao biti. Zabavu koče dijaloški pasaži koji usporavaju zbivanja, otupljuju očnjake i ubijaju početnu propulzivnu energiju filma, bilo da pokušavaju proširiti mitologiju ili se zadovoljavaju rečenicama tipa "Kladim se da daješ dobru krv".

Dojam umanjuje i pogrešan casting. Mladi glumac u usponu Lendeborg Jr. više je nego okej u svojoj najvećoj ulozi dosad (sporedan u nizu filmova tipa "Spider-Man: Povratak kući", "S ljubavlju, Simon", "Bumblebee", "Alita, anđeo borbe", "Spider-Man: Daleko od kuće" i "Bliss"), ali glavne glumice ostvaruju neravnomjeran učinak.

Dok Ryan može proći kao vampirica zaljubljena u čovjeka i posjeduje mrvu kemije s Lendeborgom, Fry glumi negativku kao da je dospjela iz "Twilighta" ili "Vampire Academy"; u potonjem filmu se i pojavila kao Lissa Dragomir, igrajući drugi po važnosti ženski lik.

Kad čovjek vidi Megan Fox ("Transformers 1&2", "Igra strasti", "Nindža kornjače 1&2", "Plaćenica", "Dok nas smrt ne rastavi") i Sydney Sweeney ("Euforija", "Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu", "Bijeli lotos", "Voajeri"), najpoznatije glumice "Noćnih zubi", protraćene u vampirskim epizodama svedenim na jednu scenu od plafon deset minuta, shvaća da bi film bio drukčiji s njima u ulogama Zoe i Blaire ili jednom od njih. Možda ne bolji, ali barem uzbudljiviji ili zabavniji.

"Posvuda smo", podsjeća uvodna naracija vampirice u novom Netflixovu filmu "Noćni zubi" ("Night Teeth"). Vampiri su doista posvuda. Od "Drakule", "Blizu tame" i "Izgubljenih dječaka", do "From Dusk Till Dawn" i "Sumraka", oni su vječno popularni hororski negativci.

Zato je i Netlix odlučio kapitalizirati na njihovim očnjacima. "Noćni zubi" su već drugi Netflixov vampirski film u svega par mjeseci nakon "Krvavog neba", prigodno tempiran pred Noć vještica za ljubitelje krvopijaca. Za jedno neobvezatno Halloween konzumiranje "Night Teeth" nije loš izbor kome je do nečeg novijeg vampirskog, još nepogledanog, jer film je lako gledljiv, premda prilično dalekog od dobrog.

Ipak, osnovna premisa je dobra. Kad naracija uspostavi priču o vampirskom i nevampirskom teritoriju, tj. ratu i primirju između dviju vrsta, jasno je da "Noćni zubi" dio mitologije duguju serijalu "Underworld", samo što su ovdje na suprotnim stranama vampiri i ljudi, a ne vukodlaci.

No, scenarist Brent Dillon i redatelj Adam Randall pokušavaju osvježiti žanr tako da ubace krvopijce u filmove "Collateral" i "Idiotska noć". U centru priče je Benny (Jorge Lendeborg Jr.), student koji živi s bakom, stremi glazbenoj karijeri i nema sreće u ljubavi.

Benny će doživjeti "idiotsku noć" kad jedne večeri zamijeni brata Jaya (Rauf Castillo) u ulozi vozača i angažiraju ga djevojke Blaire i Zoe (Debbie Ryan, Lucy Fry) da ih vozi po Los Angelesu od mraka do zore. Slatkica Blaire i sadistica Zoe nisu obične djevojke, nego vampirice, a Benny ih vozi od jedne zabave do druge da piju krv, ne alkohol.

"Ovdje se nešto čudno događa", postupno shvaća Benny koji će u jednoj sceni dovesti cure do nekog hotela nalik "Continentalu" iz "Johna Wicka", gdje se može ući uz posebne novčiće itd. Da se Randall ugledao na "Johna Wicka" potvrđuje i angažman Alfieja Allena u navlaš istoj ulozi mladog "wannabe" šefa podzemlja, sada vampirskog.

Allenov lik, Victor, krši mir između vrsta i pokreće rat u središtu kojeg će se ni kriv ni dužan naći Benny, uvučen do guše u mračni svijet vampira koji bi rado zarili očnjake u njegov vrat. Zvuči potentno, zar ne? Međutim, potencijal baš i nije ostvaren, koliko god da režisera treba držati na oku zahvaljujući njegovom neonskom vizualnom stilu koji i eksterijere Los Angelesa umije načiniti da djeluju kao interijeri kluba te kreativnim pokretima kamere u paru s neobičnim rakursima.

Film zgodno izgleda, fino je snimljen i osvijetljen, ali nudi minimalna uzbuđenja s obzirom na načelno uzbudljiv koncept i veoma je skroman u pogledu vampirskog horora, akcije i crno-crvenog humora, najbolje sjedinjenih u sceni kad Benny promatra kako Blaire i Zoe sređuju vampire u drugom planu kadra.

Ukratko, "Night Teeth" nije zabavan koliko je mogao biti. Zabavu koče dijaloški pasaži koji usporavaju zbivanja, otupljuju očnjake i ubijaju početnu propulzivnu energiju filma, bilo da pokušavaju proširiti mitologiju ili se zadovoljavaju rečenicama tipa "Kladim se da daješ dobru krv".

Dojam umanjuje i pogrešan casting. Mladi glumac u usponu Lendeborg Jr. više je nego okej u svojoj najvećoj ulozi dosad (sporedan u nizu filmova tipa "Spider-Man: Povratak kući", "S ljubavlju, Simon", "Bumblebee", "Alita, anđeo borbe", "Spider-Man: Daleko od kuće" i "Bliss"), ali glavne glumice ostvaruju neravnomjeran učinak.

Dok Ryan može proći kao vampirica zaljubljena u čovjeka i posjeduje mrvu kemije s Lendeborgom, Fry glumi negativku kao da je dospjela iz "Twilighta" ili "Vampire Academy"; u potonjem filmu se i pojavila kao Lissa Dragomir, igrajući drugi po važnosti ženski lik.

Kad čovjek vidi Megan Fox ("Transformers 1&2", "Igra strasti", "Nindža kornjače 1&2", "Plaćenica", "Dok nas smrt ne rastavi") i Sydney Sweeney ("Euforija", "Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu", "Bijeli lotos", "Voajeri"), najpoznatije glumice "Noćnih zubi", protraćene u vampirskim epizodama svedenim na jednu scenu od plafon deset minuta, shvaća da bi film bio drukčiji s njima u ulogama Zoe i Blaire ili jednom od njih. Možda ne bolji, ali barem uzbudljiviji ili zabavniji.
