Približno istovremeno započele su glumačke karijere talentiranih njemačkih glumaca i skoro-pa-vršnjaka Franke Potente i Daniela Brühla. Franka je krenula u glumačku trku krajem devedesetih ("Trči, Lola, trči"), a Daniel početkom 2000-ih rekao "zdravo" filmskom svijetu ("Zbogom, Lenjine").

Oboma je Berlinale bio značajan za karijeru, stoga nije čudno da je zimus upriličio premijere njihovih vrlo dobrih/solidnih redateljskih debija "Dom" ("Home") i "Zajedljivi susjed" (izvorno "Nebenan", engleski "Next Door"). Berlinale je njoj bio druga stepenica s filmom "Princeza i ratnik" koji ju je ustoličio kao zvijezdu u usponu, njemu prva s "Good Bye Lenin!", vjesnikom nove velike njemačke (i europske) glumačke nade.

I Franka i Daniel su se potvrdili kao zvijezde i nade. Karijera ih je odvela i do Hollywooda ("Bourneova nadmoć", "Prizivanja 2"; "Nemilosrdni gadovi", "Utrka života", "Kapetan Amerika: Građanski rat"), gdje se Brühl duže filmski zadržao, a Potente se i preselila u Ameriku. Njihov glumački/životni put reflektira se u "Domu" i "Zajedljivom susjedu", filmovima osobne ili "metafilmske" naravi.

"Home" je priča o potrazi za domom i pripadnosti. U glavnom liku se skriva sama redateljica. On je Marvin (Jake McLaughlin), momak u kasnim tridesetima. Marvin je izašao iz zatvora nakon odrađene kazne zbog ubojstva jedne starice i poslije dugih 17 godina vraća se u rodno mjesto, kamo više nije dobrodošao u očima lokalaca, što će mu oni i dati do znanja bacanjem kamena u prozor njegove kuće ili cipelarenjem.

No, to je svejedno Marvinov dom za kojeg ga nostalgično veže puno toga, ma koliko god da se promijenio zajedno sa svijetom koji je otišao naprijed bez njega. Naravno, Franka nije bila u zatvoru niti ikoga ubila, no prošlo je otprilike isto godina otkako je otišla u Hollywood i zasigurno se osjeća slično kao Marvin kad se vrati u Njemačku, u smislu da je "lokalci" gledaju preko oka zbog odlaska u Ameriku, da je pere nostalgija i da uviđa promjene oko sebe.

Dašak osobnog je, dakle, opipljiv u filmu koji Potente režira u stilu američkog nezavisnjaka, s pretežno američkom ekipom iza i napose ispred kamere, uključujući oskarovku Kathy Bates u ulozi Marvinove majke Bernadette s dijagnosticiranim rakom pluća. Franka umješno dozira emocije i fino razvija priču kroz likove, dobro ih karakterizira i režira njihove tumače, tj. glumce koji ispoljavaju gole, sirove emocije.

Najsporedniji likovi su zaokruženi, od Marvinova nekadašnjeg najboljeg prijatelja Wadea (Derek Richardson), sagorjelog od droge, preko Russella (James Jordan) i njegove sestre Delte (Aisling Franciosi), unuka starice koju je Marvin ubio, do lokalnog svećenika Browninga (Stephen Root).

Ipak, Marvin je centar priče, gotovo 40-godišnjak zapeo u vremenu koje ga je preskočilo (nije gledao "Igru prijestolja") i odijeva se skejterski kao da je u ranim dvadesetima, ali iako izgleda kao opak frajer s tetovažama koji bi mogao nekoga prebiti, on dopušta da njega prebiju, osjećajući da je zaslužio svaki udarac.

Potente se fokusira na sadašnjost tako da ni ne doznajemo razlog zašto je i kako glavni lik ubio staricu. Doznajemo, zato, da se kaje zbog toga i da se promijenio. "Dom" je i priča o iskupljenju i oprostu, utjelovljenom u Marvinu i Delti, autentično emotivna i empatična drama. Film se postupno uvlači pod kožu gledatelja s iskrenom namjerom da tu neko vrijeme i ostane.

Osoban je i "Next Door", a Frankin kolega Daniel također pokazuje sluha za likove i režiju glumaca, računajući i sebe samoga, ali i osjećaj za metafilmsku i društvenu satiru pa i autoironiju. Brühl igra glumca Daniela (nomen est omen!) pred kojim je važan dan – "casting call" za ulogu u hollywoodskom superherojskom blockbusteru u Londonu.

Scenarij je "top secret" i Daniel je dobio samo jednu stranicu istoga. Na putu prema aerodromu, Daniel će stati u lokalni berlinski bar. "Nije li to Tom Cruise", dočeka ga konobarica (Rike Eckermann), a u baru je i izvjesni Bruno (Peter Kurth), stariji čovjek iz istočnog Berlina.

Bruno zna puno o glumcu, njegovim ulogama i njegovom životu, više je od obožavatelja željna autograma, svojevrsni predstavnik malih, potlačenih ljudi, onih koji nemaju i siti su onih koji imaju. Lik Daniela je takoreći Brühl sam ili neka njegova verzija/imitacija.

Kad Bruno spomene "stasi komediju" otprije 20 godina s kojom se on proslavio, čini se da se nedvojbeno referira na "Zbogom, Lenjine". Zanimljivo je da se Brunu film ne sviđa, premda se u njemu pojavio i njegov tumač Kurth. Isto tako, Daniel je dobio poziv na audiciju za franšizni superjunački blockbuster kakav ni Brühlu nije nepoznanica ("Kapetan Amerika: Građanski rat" i njegova serijska izvedenica "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier").

"Neće osvojiti Oscara, ali je velika franšiza", pravda se Daniel svome obožavatelju koje će obrisati usta sa salvetom na koju mu se glumac potpisao i bocka ga sve oštrije kako film ide dalje jer "čekao je dugo da kaže u čemu je stvar". Većinski ambijentiran u bar i sveden na verbalna dodavanja Daniela i Bruna kao ljudi sa suprotnih strana društva, "Zajedljivi susjed" uokviruje sudar dvaju svjetova kombinirajući dramu, filmsku i društvenu satiru, dijelom i psihološki triler.

To je sudar istočnog i zapadnog Berlina, ali i Istoka i Zapada, Europe i Amerike, lokalnog i globalnog, osobnog i javnog, malih/običnih i velikih/slavnih ljudi, siromašnih i bogatih. Sudar koji bi se, sudeći po sceni s odjavne špice, mogao ponoviti s nekim drugim u Danielovoj ulozi. Svaki glumac ima nekog svog Bruna.

Kombinacija Sama Worthintgona i Channinga Tatuma

Jake McLauhglin je povremeno ukočen, ali uspijeva ispoljiti sirove emocije s minimalno dijaloga, ima potencijala i podsjeća na kombinaciju Sama Worthintgona i Channinga Tatuma. Scenarij Brühlova filma, prema njegovoj ideji/konceptu, potpisuje Daniel Kehlmann, a dobar posao je odradio snimatelj Jens Harant.

Približno istovremeno započele su glumačke karijere talentiranih njemačkih glumaca i skoro-pa-vršnjaka Franke Potente i Daniela Brühla. Franka je krenula u glumačku trku krajem devedesetih ("Trči, Lola, trči"), a Daniel početkom 2000-ih rekao "zdravo" filmskom svijetu ("Zbogom, Lenjine").

Oboma je Berlinale bio značajan za karijeru, stoga nije čudno da je zimus upriličio premijere njihovih vrlo dobrih/solidnih redateljskih debija "Dom" ("Home") i "Zajedljivi susjed" (izvorno "Nebenan", engleski "Next Door"). Berlinale je njoj bio druga stepenica s filmom "Princeza i ratnik" koji ju je ustoličio kao zvijezdu u usponu, njemu prva s "Good Bye Lenin!", vjesnikom nove velike njemačke (i europske) glumačke nade.

I Franka i Daniel su se potvrdili kao zvijezde i nade. Karijera ih je odvela i do Hollywooda ("Bourneova nadmoć", "Prizivanja 2"; "Nemilosrdni gadovi", "Utrka života", "Kapetan Amerika: Građanski rat"), gdje se Brühl duže filmski zadržao, a Potente se i preselila u Ameriku. Njihov glumački/životni put reflektira se u "Domu" i "Zajedljivom susjedu", filmovima osobne ili "metafilmske" naravi.

"Home" je priča o potrazi za domom i pripadnosti. U glavnom liku se skriva sama redateljica. On je Marvin (Jake McLaughlin), momak u kasnim tridesetima. Marvin je izašao iz zatvora nakon odrađene kazne zbog ubojstva jedne starice i poslije dugih 17 godina vraća se u rodno mjesto, kamo više nije dobrodošao u očima lokalaca, što će mu oni i dati do znanja bacanjem kamena u prozor njegove kuće ili cipelarenjem.

No, to je svejedno Marvinov dom za kojeg ga nostalgično veže puno toga, ma koliko god da se promijenio zajedno sa svijetom koji je otišao naprijed bez njega. Naravno, Franka nije bila u zatvoru niti ikoga ubila, no prošlo je otprilike isto godina otkako je otišla u Hollywood i zasigurno se osjeća slično kao Marvin kad se vrati u Njemačku, u smislu da je "lokalci" gledaju preko oka zbog odlaska u Ameriku, da je pere nostalgija i da uviđa promjene oko sebe.

Dašak osobnog je, dakle, opipljiv u filmu koji Potente režira u stilu američkog nezavisnjaka, s pretežno američkom ekipom iza i napose ispred kamere, uključujući oskarovku Kathy Bates u ulozi Marvinove majke Bernadette s dijagnosticiranim rakom pluća. Franka umješno dozira emocije i fino razvija priču kroz likove, dobro ih karakterizira i režira njihove tumače, tj. glumce koji ispoljavaju gole, sirove emocije.

Najsporedniji likovi su zaokruženi, od Marvinova nekadašnjeg najboljeg prijatelja Wadea (Derek Richardson), sagorjelog od droge, preko Russella (James Jordan) i njegove sestre Delte (Aisling Franciosi), unuka starice koju je Marvin ubio, do lokalnog svećenika Browninga (Stephen Root).

Ipak, Marvin je centar priče, gotovo 40-godišnjak zapeo u vremenu koje ga je preskočilo (nije gledao "Igru prijestolja") i odijeva se skejterski kao da je u ranim dvadesetima, ali iako izgleda kao opak frajer s tetovažama koji bi mogao nekoga prebiti, on dopušta da njega prebiju, osjećajući da je zaslužio svaki udarac.

Potente se fokusira na sadašnjost tako da ni ne doznajemo razlog zašto je i kako glavni lik ubio staricu. Doznajemo, zato, da se kaje zbog toga i da se promijenio. "Dom" je i priča o iskupljenju i oprostu, utjelovljenom u Marvinu i Delti, autentično emotivna i empatična drama. Film se postupno uvlači pod kožu gledatelja s iskrenom namjerom da tu neko vrijeme i ostane.

Osoban je i "Next Door", a Frankin kolega Daniel također pokazuje sluha za likove i režiju glumaca, računajući i sebe samoga, ali i osjećaj za metafilmsku i društvenu satiru pa i autoironiju. Brühl igra glumca Daniela (nomen est omen!) pred kojim je važan dan – "casting call" za ulogu u hollywoodskom superherojskom blockbusteru u Londonu.

Scenarij je "top secret" i Daniel je dobio samo jednu stranicu istoga. Na putu prema aerodromu, Daniel će stati u lokalni berlinski bar. "Nije li to Tom Cruise", dočeka ga konobarica (Rike Eckermann), a u baru je i izvjesni Bruno (Peter Kurth), stariji čovjek iz istočnog Berlina.

Bruno zna puno o glumcu, njegovim ulogama i njegovom životu, više je od obožavatelja željna autograma, svojevrsni predstavnik malih, potlačenih ljudi, onih koji nemaju i siti su onih koji imaju. Lik Daniela je takoreći Brühl sam ili neka njegova verzija/imitacija.

Kad Bruno spomene "stasi komediju" otprije 20 godina s kojom se on proslavio, čini se da se nedvojbeno referira na "Zbogom, Lenjine". Zanimljivo je da se Brunu film ne sviđa, premda se u njemu pojavio i njegov tumač Kurth. Isto tako, Daniel je dobio poziv na audiciju za franšizni superjunački blockbuster kakav ni Brühlu nije nepoznanica ("Kapetan Amerika: Građanski rat" i njegova serijska izvedenica "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier").

"Neće osvojiti Oscara, ali je velika franšiza", pravda se Daniel svome obožavatelju koje će obrisati usta sa salvetom na koju mu se glumac potpisao i bocka ga sve oštrije kako film ide dalje jer "čekao je dugo da kaže u čemu je stvar". Većinski ambijentiran u bar i sveden na verbalna dodavanja Daniela i Bruna kao ljudi sa suprotnih strana društva, "Zajedljivi susjed" uokviruje sudar dvaju svjetova kombinirajući dramu, filmsku i društvenu satiru, dijelom i psihološki triler.

To je sudar istočnog i zapadnog Berlina, ali i Istoka i Zapada, Europe i Amerike, lokalnog i globalnog, osobnog i javnog, malih/običnih i velikih/slavnih ljudi, siromašnih i bogatih. Sudar koji bi se, sudeći po sceni s odjavne špice, mogao ponoviti s nekim drugim u Danielovoj ulozi. Svaki glumac ima nekog svog Bruna.

Kombinacija Sama Worthintgona i Channinga Tatuma

Jake McLauhglin je povremeno ukočen, ali uspijeva ispoljiti sirove emocije s minimalno dijaloga, ima potencijala i podsjeća na kombinaciju Sama Worthintgona i Channinga Tatuma. Scenarij Brühlova filma, prema njegovoj ideji/konceptu, potpisuje Daniel Kehlmann, a dobar posao je odradio snimatelj Jens Harant.
