Dosadne su dubrovačke zime. Nema turista, ne rade hoteli ni restorani, izlozi na Stradunu oblijepljeni su papirom jer meštri sređuju butigu... Ali pomalo, ne prije devetura. Ni njima se ne da u to doba godine. Kava u kafićima ista, face iste...
U dokolici, netko je opet pokrenuo raspravu o tome je li Dubrovnik Dalmacija. Bože, ima li uzaludnijeg pitanja.... Je li hobotnica riba? Je li fragola voće ili povrće? A balančana? Provjerite to malo jer nije baš onako kako ste mislili. Na kraju ćemo se, međutim, oko toga nekako složiti. Ali o tome je li Dubrovnik Dalmacija, tu ćemo se jedni drugima krvi napit. Ako kažeš da nije, separatist si, četnik deboto. Ako kažeš da jest, onda si debil koji ništa ne razumije - o’kle si ti šljego?

Rasprava o tome što je i što bi Dubrovnik trebao biti imao je i svoje tamne vrhunce. Poznavao sam pokojnog Zvonimira Kisića, pekara koji je osim po fenomenalnim prstićima bio poznat i po svome snu o obnovi Republike. Zbog te bezazlene romantičarske i nenasilne ideje ga je u zatvor strpao javni tužitelj Aleksandar Apolonio. Isti onaj koji je za vrijeme srpske okupacije Cavtata samoproglasio Dubrovačku Republiku, a sebe postavio za kneza.
Je li, dakle, Dubrovnik Dalmacija ili nije? U rimsko doba, pokrajina Dalmacija protezala se do Valjeva i obale Morave na istoku i Trsata na zapadu, a sjeverno do rijeke Sane i na jugu do nešto iza Ulcinja. Kasniji Dalmatinski temat (vojno-civilnu provinciju) osnovao je bizantski car Bazilije I. a u njemu su se nalazili svi jadranski otoci osim Brijuna, te gradovi Jadera (Zadar), Spalatum (Split), Crespa (Cres), Arba (Rab), Tragurium (Trogir), Vecla (Krk), Ragusium i Cattarum.

U srednjem vijeku Dalmacija je pripadala Veneciji i stoga bila smrtni neprijatelj Dubrovniku kroz idućih gotovo tisuću godina. Dubrovnik u to vrijeme živi svojim životom, pa ni u kulturnom, ni u obrazovnom ili ekonomskom smislu neće s venecijanskom Dalmacijom dijeliti sudbinu dokle god se Dubrovnik krije pod turskim skutima.
Pa opet, Rugjer Bošković se deklarirao kao “Dalmatinac (i) iz Dubrovnika” u polemici o obliku zemlje s francuskim fizičarem i matematičarem D’Alambertom (praotac teorijske mehanike). Taj odgovor na D’Alambertovo ruganje, u kojem on za Boškovića kaže da je “talijanski geodet koji ima nešto imena u matematici”, otkrio je u svom je znanstvenom radu moj kolega, dr. Inoslav Bešker.
Prepirat se možemo do sutra. Puno je važnije - i korisnije - saznati što je Dubrovnik danas i razmisliti što bismo voljeli da Dubrovnik bude sutra. Za razliku od nas, tako su razmišljali Palmotići, Bone, Gučetići, Sorkočevići, Držići, Menčetići i ostala ekipa čije djelo, skoro bez ikakvog našeg doprinosa, danas rentiramo turistima.

Dosadne su dubrovačke zime. Nema turista, ne rade hoteli ni restorani, izlozi na Stradunu oblijepljeni su papirom jer meštri sređuju butigu... Ali pomalo, ne prije devetura. Ni njima se ne da u to doba godine. Kava u kafićima ista, face iste...
U dokolici, netko je opet pokrenuo raspravu o tome je li Dubrovnik Dalmacija. Bože, ima li uzaludnijeg pitanja.... Je li hobotnica riba? Je li fragola voće ili povrće? A balančana? Provjerite to malo jer nije baš onako kako ste mislili. Na kraju ćemo se, međutim, oko toga nekako složiti. Ali o tome je li Dubrovnik Dalmacija, tu ćemo se jedni drugima krvi napit. Ako kažeš da nije, separatist si, četnik deboto. Ako kažeš da jest, onda si debil koji ništa ne razumije - o’kle si ti šljego?

Rasprava o tome što je i što bi Dubrovnik trebao biti imao je i svoje tamne vrhunce. Poznavao sam pokojnog Zvonimira Kisića, pekara koji je osim po fenomenalnim prstićima bio poznat i po svome snu o obnovi Republike. Zbog te bezazlene romantičarske i nenasilne ideje ga je u zatvor strpao javni tužitelj Aleksandar Apolonio. Isti onaj koji je za vrijeme srpske okupacije Cavtata samoproglasio Dubrovačku Republiku, a sebe postavio za kneza.
Je li, dakle, Dubrovnik Dalmacija ili nije? U rimsko doba, pokrajina Dalmacija protezala se do Valjeva i obale Morave na istoku i Trsata na zapadu, a sjeverno do rijeke Sane i na jugu do nešto iza Ulcinja. Kasniji Dalmatinski temat (vojno-civilnu provinciju) osnovao je bizantski car Bazilije I. a u njemu su se nalazili svi jadranski otoci osim Brijuna, te gradovi Jadera (Zadar), Spalatum (Split), Crespa (Cres), Arba (Rab), Tragurium (Trogir), Vecla (Krk), Ragusium i Cattarum.

U srednjem vijeku Dalmacija je pripadala Veneciji i stoga bila smrtni neprijatelj Dubrovniku kroz idućih gotovo tisuću godina. Dubrovnik u to vrijeme živi svojim životom, pa ni u kulturnom, ni u obrazovnom ili ekonomskom smislu neće s venecijanskom Dalmacijom dijeliti sudbinu dokle god se Dubrovnik krije pod turskim skutima.
Pa opet, Rugjer Bošković se deklarirao kao “Dalmatinac (i) iz Dubrovnika” u polemici o obliku zemlje s francuskim fizičarem i matematičarem D’Alambertom (praotac teorijske mehanike). Taj odgovor na D’Alambertovo ruganje, u kojem on za Boškovića kaže da je “talijanski geodet koji ima nešto imena u matematici”, otkrio je u svom je znanstvenom radu moj kolega, dr. Inoslav Bešker.
Prepirat se možemo do sutra. Puno je važnije - i korisnije - saznati što je Dubrovnik danas i razmisliti što bismo voljeli da Dubrovnik bude sutra. Za razliku od nas, tako su razmišljali Palmotići, Bone, Gučetići, Sorkočevići, Držići, Menčetići i ostala ekipa čije djelo, skoro bez ikakvog našeg doprinosa, danas rentiramo turistima.
