Više ljudi umire nego što je uobičajeno za ovo doba godine, a razlog nije samo koronavirus. Stručnjaci iz Velike Britanije upozorili su na višak smrtnih slučajeva zabilježen proteklih mjeseci u toj zemlji, uz navod da su brojke alarmantne. Naime, vladine statistike pokazuju da je u protekla četiri mjeseca u Engleskoj i Walesu umrlo gotovo 10.000 ljudi više nego inače, a uzrok njihove smrti nije covid-19. Traži se hitna istraga vlade o tome jesu li se smrti mogle spriječiti.

Da bi preplavljenost britanskog NHS-a covid-pacijentima, a to važi i za druge zdravstvene sustave diljem svijeta, mogla dovesti do povećane smrtnosti općenito, zbog preskakanja pregleda i odgoda operacija i terapija, upozorava se odavno.

U slučaju Britanije posljednje brojke Ureda za nacionalnu statistiku pokazuju da su Engleska i Wales u proteklih 18 tjedana zabilježili 20.823 smrti više nego što ih je trebalo biti, gledajući petogodišnji prosjek. Nešto više od polovice odnosi se na smrti od covida - točnije, 11.531 smrtni slučaj. Ostala 9292 smrtna slučaja - čak 45 posto - nisu povezana s pandemijom.

"Hitno moramo shvatiti što je pošlo po krivu", ističe profesor Carl Heneghan, direktor Centra za medicinu temeljenu na dokazima na Sveučilištu Oxford, koji traži hitnu vladinu istragu vlade, piše Jutarnji list.

Profesor Heneghan ističe da se "višak" smrti uglavnom odnosi na srčane bolesti, cirozu jetra i dijabetes, bolesti čija se progresija potencijalno može blokirati. "Ovo treba ići dalje od pukog gledanja u sirove brojke i smrtovnice. Moramo se vratiti unatrag i saznati jesu li se ovi smrtni slučajevi mogli prevenirati", kaže Heneghan.

Brojke za tjedan koji je završio 5. studenoga pokazuju da je bilo 1659 smrtnih slučajeva više nego što bi se očekivalo za to vrijeme godine. Od tog broja, 700 nije izazvano covidom. Podaci britanske Agencije za zdravstvenu sigurnost bilježe tisuće dodatnih smrti zbog srčanih udara, srčanih bolesti i dijabetesa tijekom ljeta.

Broj smrtnih slučajeva u privatnim domovima građana je oko 40,9 posto viši od petogodišnjeg prosjeka s 964 smrti "viška" zabilježene u tjednu do 5. studenoga.

Kevin McConway, professor emeritus primijenjene statistike na Otvorenom sveučilištu, kaže kako se u ovo doba godine broj smrtnih slučajeva obično povećava, ali su ukupne brojke više od prosjeka za taj tjedan. "Da, imamo višak smrti, kao što ga imamo već 18 tjedana, a nije sva povećana smrtnost povezana s covidom", kaže McConway.

NHS se u međuvremenu bori s nikad dužim listama čekanja koje pokazuju da jedna od deset osoba u Engleskoj trenutačno čeka rutinski zahvat. Nedavni izvještaj otkrio je da je više od 120.000 ljudi bilo prisiljeno čekati pomoć najmanje četiri sata u slučaju nesreće u listopadu, što je povećanje od 50 posto u odnosu na listopad 2019. godine. Hitnoj pomoći treba dulje da dođe do pacijenata, a ljudi koji su doživjeli srčani napad u prosjeku čekaju 53 minute da dođe pomoć. Broj pacijenata kojima se pruža pomoć na hodnicima se povećao devet puta od listopada 2019. godine, donosi Jutarnji list.

Više ljudi umire nego što je uobičajeno za ovo doba godine, a razlog nije samo koronavirus. Stručnjaci iz Velike Britanije upozorili su na višak smrtnih slučajeva zabilježen proteklih mjeseci u toj zemlji, uz navod da su brojke alarmantne. Naime, vladine statistike pokazuju da je u protekla četiri mjeseca u Engleskoj i Walesu umrlo gotovo 10.000 ljudi više nego inače, a uzrok njihove smrti nije covid-19. Da bi preplavljenost britanskog NHS-a covid-pacijentima, a to važi i za druge zdravstvene sustave diljem svijeta, mogla dovesti do povećane smrtnosti općenito, zbog preskakanja pregleda i odgoda operacija i terapija, upozorava se odavno.

U slučaju Britanije posljednje brojke Ureda za nacionalnu statistiku pokazuju da su Engleska i Wales u proteklih 18 tjedana zabilježili 20.823 smrti više nego što ih je trebalo biti, gledajući petogodišnji prosjek. Nešto više od polovice odnosi se na smrti od covida - točnije, 11.531 smrtni slučaj. Ostala 9292 smrtna slučaja - čak 45 posto - nisu povezana s pandemijom.

"Hitno moramo shvatiti što je pošlo po krivu", ističe profesor Carl Heneghan, direktor Centra za medicinu temeljenu na dokazima na Sveučilištu Oxford, koji traži hitnu vladinu istragu vlade, piše Jutarnji list.

Profesor Heneghan ističe da se "višak" smrti uglavnom odnosi na srčane bolesti, cirozu jetra i dijabetes, bolesti čija se progresija potencijalno može blokirati. "Ovo treba ići dalje od pukog gledanja u sirove brojke i smrtovnice. Moramo se vratiti unatrag i saznati jesu li se ovi smrtni slučajevi mogli prevenirati", kaže Heneghan.

Brojke za tjedan koji je završio 5. studenoga pokazuju da je bilo 1659 smrtnih slučajeva više nego što bi se očekivalo za to vrijeme godine. Od tog broja, 700 nije izazvano covidom. Podaci britanske Agencije za zdravstvenu sigurnost bilježe tisuće dodatnih smrti zbog srčanih udara, srčanih bolesti i dijabetesa tijekom ljeta.

Broj smrtnih slučajeva u privatnim domovima građana je oko 40,9 posto viši od petogodišnjeg prosjeka s 964 smrti "viška" zabilježene u tjednu do 5. studenoga.

Kevin McConway, professor emeritus primijenjene statistike na Otvorenom sveučilištu, kaže kako se u ovo doba godine broj smrtnih slučajeva obično povećava, ali su ukupne brojke više od prosjeka za taj tjedan. "Da, imamo višak smrti, kao što ga imamo već 18 tjedana, a nije sva povećana smrtnost povezana s covidom", kaže McConway.

NHS se u međuvremenu bori s nikad dužim listama čekanja koje pokazuju da jedna od deset osoba u Engleskoj trenutačno čeka rutinski zahvat. Nedavni izvještaj otkrio je da je više od 120.000 ljudi bilo prisiljeno čekati pomoć najmanje četiri sata u slučaju nesreće u listopadu, što je povećanje od 50 posto u odnosu na listopad 2019. godine. Hitnoj pomoći treba dulje da dođe do pacijenata, a ljudi koji su doživjeli srčani napad u prosjeku čekaju 53 minute da dođe pomoć. Broj pacijenata kojima se pruža pomoć na hodnicima se povećao devet puta od listopada 2019. godine, donosi Jutarnji list.

Više ljudi umire nego što je uobičajeno za ovo doba godine, a razlog nije samo koronavirus. Stručnjaci iz Velike Britanije upozorili su na višak smrtnih slučajeva zabilježen proteklih mjeseci u toj zemlji, uz navod da su brojke alarmantne. Naime, vladine statistike pokazuju da je u protekla četiri mjeseca u Engleskoj i Walesu umrlo gotovo 10.000 ljudi više nego inače, a uzrok njihove smrti nije covid-19.
