Američki su znanstvenici razvili lijek u obliku tablete koji je u pretkliničkim ispitivanjima "uništavao" sve čvrste karcinome i ostavljao zdrave stanice nepromijenjene, prenosi njemačka novinska agencija dpa.
Znanstvenici iz City of Hope, jedne od najvećih američkih organizacija za istraživanje i liječenje raka, objavili su u utorak studiju s detaljima prvih rezultata testiranja "tablete za ubijanje raka" AOH1996.
Lijek cilja kanceroznu varijantu antigena jezgre proliferirajućih stanica (PCNA) - proteina koji je u svom mutiranom obliku "ključan" u replikaciji DNK i ‘popravku‘ svih "tumora koji se šire", priopćio je City of Hope.
Linda Malkas, profesorica na odjelu za molekularnu dijagnostiku i eksperimentalnu terapiju kalifornijskog centra za liječenje, razvija lijek posljednjih 20 godina.
Malkas je rekla: "PCNA je kao glavno čvorište aerodromskog terminala koje sadrži više ulaza za avion."
"Podaci sugeriraju da je PCNA jedinstveno promijenjen u stanicama raka, a ta nam je činjenica omogućila da dizajniramo lijek koji cilja samo na oblik PCNA u stanicama raka."
"Naša tableta za ubijanje raka je poput snježne oluje koja zatvara ključno čvorište zračnih prijevoznika, zatvarajući sve dolazne i odlazne letove samo u zrakoplovima koji prevoze stanice raka."
Profesorica je rezultate nazvala "obećavajućima" i rekla da je istraživanje pokazalo da AOH1996 može suzbiti rast tumora u staničnim i životinjskim modelima, a prva faza kliničkog ispitivanja na ljudima je u tijeku.
Tableta se pokazala učinkovitom u tretmanu stanica koje potječu od raka dojke, prostate, mozga, jajnika, vrata maternice, kože i pluća.
Testiran je na više od 70 staničnih linija raka i utvrđeno je da selektivno ubija stanice raka remećenjem normalnog reproduktivnog ciklusa stanica, prema istraživačkom centru.
PCNA je ranije smatran "nedostupnim za lijekove".
Glavni autor studije, Long Gu, rekao je da "nitko nikada nije ciljao PCNA lijekom jer se smatrao da je to neizvedivo, ali očito je City of Hope uspio razviti lijek za izazovnu metu."
Studija je objavljena u časopisu Cell Chemical Biology, piše Hina.

Američki su znanstvenici razvili lijek u obliku tablete koji je u pretkliničkim ispitivanjima "uništavao" sve čvrste karcinome i ostavljao zdrave stanice nepromijenjene, prenosi njemačka novinska agencija dpa.
Znanstvenici iz City of Hope, jedne od najvećih američkih organizacija za istraživanje i liječenje raka, objavili su u utorak studiju s detaljima prvih rezultata testiranja "tablete za ubijanje raka" AOH1996.
Lijek cilja kanceroznu varijantu antigena jezgre proliferirajućih stanica (PCNA) - proteina koji je u svom mutiranom obliku "ključan" u replikaciji DNK i ‘popravku‘ svih "tumora koji se šire", priopćio je City of Hope.
Linda Malkas, profesorica na odjelu za molekularnu dijagnostiku i eksperimentalnu terapiju kalifornijskog centra za liječenje, razvija lijek posljednjih 20 godina.
Malkas je rekla: "PCNA je kao glavno čvorište aerodromskog terminala koje sadrži više ulaza za avion."
"Podaci sugeriraju da je PCNA jedinstveno promijenjen u stanicama raka, a ta nam je činjenica omogućila da dizajniramo lijek koji cilja samo na oblik PCNA u stanicama raka."
"Naša tableta za ubijanje raka je poput snježne oluje koja zatvara ključno čvorište zračnih prijevoznika, zatvarajući sve dolazne i odlazne letove samo u zrakoplovima koji prevoze stanice raka."
Profesorica je rezultate nazvala "obećavajućima" i rekla da je istraživanje pokazalo da AOH1996 može suzbiti rast tumora u staničnim i životinjskim modelima, a prva faza kliničkog ispitivanja na ljudima je u tijeku.
Tableta se pokazala učinkovitom u tretmanu stanica koje potječu od raka dojke, prostate, mozga, jajnika, vrata maternice, kože i pluća.
Testiran je na više od 70 staničnih linija raka i utvrđeno je da selektivno ubija stanice raka remećenjem normalnog reproduktivnog ciklusa stanica, prema istraživačkom centru.
PCNA je ranije smatran "nedostupnim za lijekove".
Glavni autor studije, Long Gu, rekao je da "nitko nikada nije ciljao PCNA lijekom jer se smatrao da je to neizvedivo, ali očito je City of Hope uspio razviti lijek za izazovnu metu."
Studija je objavljena u časopisu Cell Chemical Biology, piše Hina.
