U predgrađu Atene, 19-godišnja žena, u osmom mjesecu trudnoće, umrla je nakon što je više od pet sati čekala hitnu pomoć. U incidentu koji se dogodio početkom srpnja bolničari nisu shvaćali ozbiljno njezin slučaj, te zbog ranijih 20-ak intervencija nisu stizali do nje.

Umrlo je i njeno nerođeno dijete. Taj slučaj izazvao je burne reakcije u zemlji i razotkrio još jednom lošu medicinsku strukturu s kojom se bori Grčka u tijeku turističke sezone dok je preplavljena dodatnim milijunima posjetitelja, piše Jutarnji.

Najmanje devet smrtnih slučajeva bilo je moguće spriječiti ovog ljeta, ali zbog nedostatka osoblja u bolnicama i službama hitne pomoći, stanovnici ili posjetitelji su preminuli. Od smrti trudnice, otkriveno je najmanje šest slučajeva zakazivanja službe. Na otoku Lezbosu, pomoć 78-godišnjoj ženi, koja je izgubila svijest plivajući, pristigla je tek nakon dva sata, kako bi zaključila da je doživjela srčani udar.

Nemilosrdni pritisak

Otočni medicinski centri, posebno u Egejskom arhipelagu, bore se s nemilosrdnim pritiskom rješavanja hitnih slučajeva, s oskudnim brojem liječnika koji su svakodnevno na raspolaganju. Alarmantan nedostatak vozila hitne pomoći pogoršava problem. Dok turisti preplavljuju idilične destinacije, sumorna je istina da neki otoci imaju samo jedno vozilo hitne pomoći dostupno 24 sata dnevno. Problem seže i izvan otoka; čak i Atena, užurbani glavni grad, funkcionira sa znatno manje ambulantnih vozila nego što je potrebno. U gradu radi oko 50 vozila hitne pomoći, umjesto 85 do 90, koliko je potrebno. Kos, otok s 40.000 stalnih stanovnika, koji ljeti ugosti više od milijun stanovnika, ima tri nova vozila hitne pomoći, ali može upravljati samo jednim, jer ima samo deset bolničara.

Giorgos Mathiopoulos, predsjednik grčke službe hitne pomoći (EKAV), rekao je za Politico: "Moramo ispočetka redizajnirati službu hitne pomoći jer postoje ogromne praznine u cijeloj zemlji".

Privlačnost života na otoku za medicinske stručnjake nestaje jer troškovi života premašuju njihovu zaradu. Zbog vrtoglavog rasta troškova života povezanih s razvojem turizma nemoguće je privući i zadržati medicinske stručnjake, objasnio je.

Napori da se zaposli dodatno osoblje često ne uspijevaju, ostavljajući bolnice ovisne o privremenom osoblju, koje dolazi s kopna. "Naši kolege bili su prisiljeni prekinuti svoje ljetne praznike zbog toga, ali oni su samo improvizirali rješenja", rekao je Mathiopoulos.

Uznemirujuće priče

Dok se pojavljuju uznemirujuće priče o smrtnim slučajevima koji se mogu spriječiti, grčka vlada raspoređuje vatrogasce, vojno osoblje i lokalne vozače kao dopunu medicinskog osoblja. To ad hoc rješenje, međutim, izaziva zabrinutost oko sigurnosti neobučenog osoblja u kritičnim hitnim slučajevima. Sagorijevanje ili "burnout" sindrom sve je prisutniji među liječnicima, koji zbog velikog stresa čak odlučuju napustiti službu ili otići s otoka.

Premijer Kyriakos Mitsotakis, ponovno izabran 25. lipnja, obećao je reforme zdravstvene skrbi i povećanje osoblja. Izjavio je da će zaposliti oko 10.000 zdravstvenih radnika, 800 vozača hitne pomoći i 250 motociklista bolničara. Međutim, možda ni ta hitna reforma neće dovesti do rješenja jer je u posljednje dvije godine sektor medicinske skrbi napustilo 10.000 zaposlenika, a očekuje se da će ih još 5000 otići 2023., prema podacima grčke Konfederacije zaposlenika u javnim bolnicama (POEDYN).

U predgrađu Atene, 19-godišnja žena, u osmom mjesecu trudnoće, umrla je nakon što je više od pet sati čekala hitnu pomoć. U incidentu koji se dogodio početkom srpnja bolničari nisu shvaćali ozbiljno njezin slučaj, te zbog ranijih 20-ak intervencija nisu stizali do nje.

Umrlo je i njeno nerođeno dijete. Taj slučaj izazvao je burne reakcije u zemlji i razotkrio još jednom lošu medicinsku strukturu s kojom se bori Grčka u tijeku turističke sezone dok je preplavljena dodatnim milijunima posjetitelja, piše Jutarnji.

Najmanje devet smrtnih slučajeva bilo je moguće spriječiti ovog ljeta, ali zbog nedostatka osoblja u bolnicama i službama hitne pomoći, stanovnici ili posjetitelji su preminuli. Od smrti trudnice, otkriveno je najmanje šest slučajeva zakazivanja službe. Na otoku Lezbosu, pomoć 78-godišnjoj ženi, koja je izgubila svijest plivajući, pristigla je tek nakon dva sata, kako bi zaključila da je doživjela srčani udar.

Nemilosrdni pritisak

Otočni medicinski centri, posebno u Egejskom arhipelagu, bore se s nemilosrdnim pritiskom rješavanja hitnih slučajeva, s oskudnim brojem liječnika koji su svakodnevno na raspolaganju. Alarmantan nedostatak vozila hitne pomoći pogoršava problem. Dok turisti preplavljuju idilične destinacije, sumorna je istina da neki otoci imaju samo jedno vozilo hitne pomoći dostupno 24 sata dnevno. Problem seže i izvan otoka; čak i Atena, užurbani glavni grad, funkcionira sa znatno manje ambulantnih vozila nego što je potrebno. U gradu radi oko 50 vozila hitne pomoći, umjesto 85 do 90, koliko je potrebno. Kos, otok s 40.000 stalnih stanovnika, koji ljeti ugosti više od milijun stanovnika, ima tri nova vozila hitne pomoći, ali može upravljati samo jednim, jer ima samo deset bolničara.

Giorgos Mathiopoulos, predsjednik grčke službe hitne pomoći (EKAV), rekao je za Politico: "Moramo ispočetka redizajnirati službu hitne pomoći jer postoje ogromne praznine u cijeloj zemlji".

Privlačnost života na otoku za medicinske stručnjake nestaje jer troškovi života premašuju njihovu zaradu. Zbog vrtoglavog rasta troškova života povezanih s razvojem turizma nemoguće je privući i zadržati medicinske stručnjake, objasnio je.

Napori da se zaposli dodatno osoblje često ne uspijevaju, ostavljajući bolnice ovisne o privremenom osoblju, koje dolazi s kopna. "Naši kolege bili su prisiljeni prekinuti svoje ljetne praznike zbog toga, ali oni su samo improvizirali rješenja", rekao je Mathiopoulos.

Uznemirujuće priče

Dok se pojavljuju uznemirujuće priče o smrtnim slučajevima koji se mogu spriječiti, grčka vlada raspoređuje vatrogasce, vojno osoblje i lokalne vozače kao dopunu medicinskog osoblja. To ad hoc rješenje, međutim, izaziva zabrinutost oko sigurnosti neobučenog osoblja u kritičnim hitnim slučajevima. Sagorijevanje ili "burnout" sindrom sve je prisutniji među liječnicima, koji zbog velikog stresa čak odlučuju napustiti službu ili otići s otoka.

Premijer Kyriakos Mitsotakis, ponovno izabran 25. lipnja, obećao je reforme zdravstvene skrbi i povećanje osoblja. Izjavio je da će zaposliti oko 10.000 zdravstvenih radnika, 800 vozača hitne pomoći i 250 motociklista bolničara. Međutim, možda ni ta hitna reforma neće dovesti do rješenja jer je u posljednje dvije godine sektor medicinske skrbi napustilo 10.000 zaposlenika, a očekuje se da će ih još 5000 otići 2023., prema podacima grčke Konfederacije zaposlenika u javnim bolnicama (POEDYN).
