Američki filmaši svake godine uoči Halloweena ljubitelje horora počaste barem jednim filmom koji s više ili manje uspjeha ustraši poklonike žanra. Ove rane jeseni na red je došla ekranizacija desetak godina stare video igrice ‘Five nights at Freddy‘s‘ o animatroničnim igračkama koje vrebaju žrtve u labirintima napuštenog zabavnog parka/pizzerije. Film ne pretjerano poznate redateljice Emme Tammi (Vjetar, western horor iz 2018.) u kina privlači većinom publiku predtinejdžerske dobi koja napeto iščekuje kad će rasklimani mehanički medo, zeko, pile, lisica ili muffin ščepati i prožderati unezvjereni plijen.

Horor Five nights at Freddy‘s

No, takva se ‘sočna‘ krvoprolića u filmu događaju previše rijetko da bi se mogla nazvati zastrašujućima, a i kad se dogode, nema u njima ničeg posebno inovativnog. Težište zbivanja ovdje je, očito previše ambiciozno, pomaknuto prema psihološkim portretima ljudi koji se nađu na meti morbidnih figura. Glavni protagonist, mentalno labilni stariji brat Mike (Josh Hutcherson) skrbi o sestrici Abby (Piper Rubio), mudrici koja razvija alternativne načine komunikacije.

Krnju obitelj progoni nerazriješena trauma iz prošlosti, nosivi motiv ovog horora koji povremeno djeluje kao roba iz posudionice djela Stephena Kinga. Istini za volju, nadahnuće opusom nekog majstora žanra ne mora nužno biti loše, ali traži pažljivu nadgradnju i barem malo dodane vrijednosti kroz efekt iznenađenja ili dublju razradu karaktera glavnih junaka. Sve to kod Tammi izostaje, previše je općih mjesta i predvidivih situacija da bi se kod gledatelja potaknuo strah. Hutchersonu je uloga rastrzane glave obitelji dobro legla, uspio je bez ridikulizacije iz svog junaka izvući ono toplo i lomljivo, pa njegov nastup pozitivno odudara od cjeline.

Solidna je i juniorka Rubio, pojavom i glumom privlači pozornost toliko da bi vrlo skoro mogla nadići ograničenja dječje zvijezde. Elizabeth Lail kao policajka Vanessa i predmet sentimentalnog interesa naslovnog lika ne uspijeva izvući potrebne nijanse koje bi njezinu junakinju učinile plastičnijom, kakva je trebala i biti jer je potencijalno najkompleksniji akter. Matthew Lillard najlošije je prošao u glumačkoj podjeli, njegov lik oca zlostavljača Stevea Raglana trebao je biti ključni negativac, a na kraju je ispao tek lagani ‘snack‘ za ozlojeđenu ekipu iz Freddya.

Raštimane igračke prijete uljezima

U filmu je nemušto obrazložena i sporadična pojava duhova otete djece koji uporno teroriziraju Mikea. Poveznica s mehaničkim igračkama nije osobito uvjerljiva, uostalom kao ni sam izgled ‘stanara‘ ukletog zabavnog parka čija je utroba nepregledna smjesa vijaka, oštrica i mljevenog mesa.

Ukratko, ta je robotsko-organska masa više gadljiva nego jezovita, a i samom ukazanju metalnih igračaka manjka patine strave i užasa. Štoviše, njihov zapušteni izgled ne odaje dojam strojeva za ubijanje kojih bi se napadnuti trebali kloniti. Upravo suprotno, poželite da su plišani pa da ih možete za utjehu zagrliti ili čak udomiti. Ukratko, ‘petodnevlje‘ kod Freddya rijetko će kod kojeg gledatelja prouzročiti noćne more.

Opravdanje za razblaženu verziju horora dijelom treba tražiti u predikatu za prikazivanje pred djecom i mladima, a dijelom u nastojanjima da se pomire ukusi obožavatelja stare video igrice i novog, ‘family friendly‘ proizvoda za veliak platna. Kompromis se ovdje nije pokazao kao dobro rješenje.

Američki filmaši svake godine uoči Halloweena ljubitelje horora počaste barem jednim filmom koji s više ili manje uspjeha ustraši poklonike žanra. Ove rane jeseni na red je došla ekranizacija desetak godina stare video igrice ‘Five nights at Freddy‘s‘ o animatroničnim igračkama koje vrebaju žrtve u labirintima napuštenog zabavnog parka/pizzerije. Film ne pretjerano poznate redateljice Emme Tammi (Vjetar, western horor iz 2018.) u kina privlači većinom publiku predtinejdžerske dobi koja napeto iščekuje kad će rasklimani mehanički medo, zeko, pile, lisica ili muffin ščepati i prožderati unezvjereni plijen.

No, takva se ‘sočna‘ krvoprolića u filmu događaju previše rijetko da bi se mogla nazvati zastrašujućima, a i kad se dogode, nema u njima ničeg posebno inovativnog. Težište zbivanja ovdje je, očito previše ambiciozno, pomaknuto prema psihološkim portretima ljudi koji se nađu na meti morbidnih figura. Glavni protagonist, mentalno labilni stariji brat Mike (Josh Hutcherson) skrbi o sestrici Abby (Piper Rubio), mudrici koja razvija alternativne načine komunikacije.

Krnju obitelj progoni nerazriješena trauma iz prošlosti, nosivi motiv ovog horora koji povremeno djeluje kao roba iz posudionice djela Stephena Kinga. Istini za volju, nadahnuće opusom nekog majstora žanra ne mora nužno biti loše, ali traži pažljivu nadgradnju i barem malo dodane vrijednosti kroz efekt iznenađenja ili dublju razradu karaktera glavnih junaka. Sve to kod Tammi izostaje, previše je općih mjesta i predvidivih situacija da bi se kod gledatelja potaknuo strah. Hutchersonu je uloga rastrzane glave obitelji dobro legla, uspio je bez ridikulizacije iz svog junaka izvući ono toplo i lomljivo, pa njegov nastup pozitivno odudara od cjeline.

Solidna je i juniorka Rubio, pojavom i glumom privlači pozornost toliko da bi vrlo skoro mogla nadići ograničenja dječje zvijezde. Elizabeth Lail kao policajka Vanessa i predmet sentimentalnog interesa naslovnog lika ne uspijeva izvući potrebne nijanse koje bi njezinu junakinju učinile plastičnijom, kakva je trebala i biti jer je potencijalno najkompleksniji akter. Matthew Lillard najlošije je prošao u glumačkoj podjeli, njegov lik oca zlostavljača Stevea Raglana trebao je biti ključni negativac, a na kraju je ispao tek lagani ‘snack‘ za ozlojeđenu ekipu iz Freddya.

U filmu je nemušto obrazložena i sporadična pojava duhova otete djece koji uporno teroriziraju Mikea. Poveznica s mehaničkim igračkama nije osobito uvjerljiva, uostalom kao ni sam izgled ‘stanara‘ ukletog zabavnog parka čija je utroba nepregledna smjesa vijaka, oštrica i mljevenog mesa.

Ukratko, ta je robotsko-organska masa više gadljiva nego jezovita, a i samom ukazanju metalnih igračaka manjka patine strave i užasa. Štoviše, njihov zapušteni izgled ne odaje dojam strojeva za ubijanje kojih bi se napadnuti trebali kloniti. Upravo suprotno, poželite da su plišani pa da ih možete za utjehu zagrliti ili čak udomiti. Ukratko, ‘petodnevlje‘ kod Freddya rijetko će kod kojeg gledatelja prouzročiti noćne more.

Opravdanje za razblaženu verziju horora dijelom treba tražiti u predikatu za prikazivanje pred djecom i mladima, a dijelom u nastojanjima da se pomire ukusi obožavatelja stare video igrice i novog, ‘family friendly‘ proizvoda za veliak platna. Kompromis se ovdje nije pokazao kao dobro rješenje.
